**Chapter 51: One More Down**
**Nico’s POV**
As I stepped out of the kitchen, a tempest brewed within me, an unrelenting fury ready to spill over at any moment. My jaw was clenched so tightly that it felt as if it might crack under the pressure, while my fists quivered with barely suppressed rage. Each stride I took up the stairs was propelled by a seething frustration, my legs moving in a blur as I raced towards the hallway, urgency coursing through my veins like wildfire.
The thought of retreating to my own room barely grazed my mind; it was a fleeting notion, quickly overshadowed by a more pressing instinct. Without a second thought, I pivoted sharply, my gut leading me toward Luka’s room. There was no time for niceties or polite knocks. I flung the door open, the sound reverberating through the charged atmosphere like a gunshot.
Inside, Luka was huddled over his desk, utterly absorbed in his work, his pen flying across the pages of one of his ledgers. The moment I burst in, he looked up, and I could see the annoyance flicker across his features as he took in the storm brewing within me.
“What?” he snapped, his voice tinged with irritation, clearly unprepared for what was about to unfold.
“I need to talk to you,” I shot back, slamming the door behind me with enough force to rattle the very hinges. “Now.”
Luka placed his pen down with deliberate care, the air thickening with unspoken tension as he processed my agitated demeanor. I didn’t give him a moment to gather his thoughts. “Jace is with her now.”
The silence that followed was heavy, a suffocating blanket that settled over us. Luka’s eyes widened, disbelief etching itself into his features. “What?”
“He gave her cereal,” I spat, my pacing quickening, like a wild animal trapped in a cage. “He made her laugh. He’s one of them now—Leon, Jace… They’ve all turned against us.”
A heartbeat stretched between us, thick with the weight of what I had just revealed.
Then, in a sudden explosion of fury, Luka slammed his fist onto the desk. Papers erupted into the air like startled birds, fluttering wildly before cascading to the ground, and his pen rolled off, clattering loudly to the floor.
