Twin Cupids at Work: Daddy, Come Home! novel Chapter 260

Julian’s jaw was so tight it looked like he might crack a tooth.

“Fine. Stay here if you want.” Madeline grabbed her stuff and didn’t waste a second. “Bye.”

“Madeline, get back here!” Julian shouted after her.

No one had ever dared to talk to Julian like that. He was furious, practically vibrating with it.

Madeline didn’t even look back. She slipped out and quietly shut the door, making sure no one would stumble upon Julian for a while.

Julian just stood there, eyes dark as midnight, watching her leave.

Madeline didn’t dare hang around. She checked on Oliver in his room, gave him a few quick instructions, then rushed downstairs. Julian probably wanted to strangle her right now, so she had to get out before he could catch up.

“Madeline.” Lucy’s voice rang out, sharp and full of the same old contempt.

Helene sat nearby, sipping her tea with slow, deliberate calm. No one else noticed the sly little smile tugging at her lips.

Madeline stopped. “What is it?”

Lucy glared at her. “You’re not coming here to treat Julian anymore.”

Madeline blinked, confused. “Why not?”

“Because I don’t want you near Julian. You’ve put some kind of spell on him. I’ll find someone else to take over his treatment. You don’t need to worry about it anymore.”

Helene’s eyes sparkled with satisfaction. She knew Lucy was repeating every word she’d whispered.

“Mrs. Grayson, why are you doing this?” Brady spoke up, clearly frustrated. “Madeline’s been helping Julian. If you stop her now, you’re only making things worse for him.”

Brady had been the one to recommend Madeline in the first place, so of course he couldn’t just sit there and watch this happen.
