Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 266

Madeline perked up the moment she heard that familiar voice. Her eyes went straight to the guy’s face, and wow, he was as annoyingly handsome as ever.

She cocked an eyebrow at him. “You here for the party too?”

Casey stood there in his usual lazy way, giving her a slow, playful look. “Yeah. Got bored, figured I’d come out and find something to do. Want to head inside?”

“Yes.” Brenda had just called and said she’d be another ten minutes or so.

Madeline could play it cool most of the time, but standing out here alone for this long was starting to feel awkward.

With Casey showing up, she finally had someone to walk in with. She almost wanted to thank the universe.

“But your suit…” Madeline tapped her chin, her eyes wandering over him. “It looks kind of… off.”

Casey glanced down at himself, totally unfazed. “Off how?”

“Isn’t it a little tight?”

Cody, trailing behind Casey, looked like he might cry. Of course it was tight. Casey had literally yanked the jacket off Cody just moments ago.

Casey almost never wore suits. He liked to keep things chill and casual. Today, though, he’d decided to come at the last minute. His own clothes felt way too relaxed. Normally he wouldn’t care, but since he was about to walk in with Madeline at an event like this, he figured he should at least look the part. So, right at the door, he just grabbed Cody’s jacket and threw it on over a black shirt. Honestly, it didn’t look half bad.

“Do I look ridiculous?”

“Not at all,” Madeline said quickly, shaking her head. With a face like his, he could probably make a trash bag look good.

He was honestly, stupidly handsome.

And even if he did look bad… would she really tell him? No way. He’d probably get all dramatic right then and there.

Madeline reached out and fixed his collar, smoothing it down. “Let’s get in.”

“Wait.” Casey stopped her.

“Hm?”

He still cared about Madeline.

Just like earlier, when he’d lost his temper because people were trash-talking her inside.

Helene forced a smile, pushing down the bitterness welling up inside her. She walked over and slid her arm through Julian’s, keeping her face bright and cheerful. “Julian, let’s get inside.”

As Madeline and Casey walked in together, the four of them ended up face to face.

Julian didn’t pull his arm away from Helene this time. His sharp, cold gaze stayed locked on Madeline.

Madeline paused, surprised to run into Julian and Helene right at the corner. Her expression froze for a moment.

Helene just smiled and leaned in closer to Julian, practically pressing herself against him. She was making a point, showing Madeline who was by Julian’s side now.

Julian caught on to Helene’s little show but didn’t say a word. He never took his eyes off Madeline, like he was searching for something on her face.

Helene smiled, perfectly polite. “So Ms. Monroe wasn’t just waiting to come in. You were waiting for your boyfriend.”
