Twin Cupids at Work: Daddy, Come Home! novel Chapter 273

Julian’s eyes went ice cold as he grabbed her arm and pulled her back. “Let go of her.”

“Back off.”

Julian’s brows drew together. He tried to knock Casey’s hand away, but Casey instantly blocked him with his other arm.

Both men moved fast, each one matching the other’s strength. It was clear neither of them would back down.

Helene was shoved aside, helpless as she watched the two men square up, fists ready.

They were both in terrible moods, and all the anger they’d been holding in finally exploded. It was like they needed to let it all out, right here, right now.

“So you really care, huh?” Casey shot Helene a look full of violence. He looked like he actually wanted to kill her.

Julian could tell. Helene hadn’t done anything wrong tonight, but this guy was out of his mind. There was no way Julian was going to let him hurt her.

“Get out,” Julian said.

“And if I don’t? I’m going to beat her up tonight.”

Casey didn’t care about hitting a girl. If you hurt Madeline, you were done for. Nothing could stop him.

Julian swung at him, but Casey dodged. Casey’s own punches came fast and hard, no hesitation at all.

A crash rang out as a table went flying, its legs breaking apart when Casey kicked it over.

Everyone else in the room shrank back, pressed into the corner, barely daring to breathe. Nobody wanted to get involved. They’d just become targets.

Julian glared at Casey. “What did she ever do to you?”

If you’re going to punish someone, you need a reason.

What had Helene done wrong today?

“She hurt Madeline. She deserves to die. You do too, actually. Want to join her?” Casey’s voice was low and cold, his whole presence dark and threatening.

As soon as he said it, the air in the room got even heavier. It felt like there was no space left to breathe.

The fight dragged on, blow for blow, until both men were sporting bruises and bloody lips. Still, neither one gave in.

Casey’s eyes flicked over to Helene, cowering in the corner, and something in his face shifted.

They both swung at the same time, fists colliding with a loud crack. Both of them staggered back a step. Casey didn’t attack again. The rage in his face faded, replaced by a blank, almost bored expression. He brushed off his clothes. “Fine.”

He nodded, turned, and walked out.

Everyone in the room finally let out the breath they were holding. But Julian couldn’t shake a bad feeling. Something felt off. And by the time he realized it, it was already too late.

His eyes flashed. “Casey!”

A scream tore through the room.

Before Julian could stop him, Casey was already in front of Helene, grabbing her shoulder in a vice grip.

Helene screamed as a sharp pain shot through her legs. Something snapped, and she dropped to her knees, her face going ghostly pale.
