What did he mean by “worse than a normal person”?
Julian grabbed his phone and dialed. “I need you to set something up. Tomorrow, have Madeline get a full checkup at the hospital.”
“A full checkup? Boss, is Ms. Monroe sick?”
“I don’t know.” He pressed his lips together. Honestly, he wished he knew what was going on with her.
Miles didn’t ask any more questions. “Yes, boss. I’ll take care of it.”
“Good.” Julian ended the call. His eyes drifted to what Madeline was wearing. His gaze sharpened. He pulled back the blanket and saw that she was dressed in a hotel bathrobe.
In that instant, every other feeling was swallowed up by a sudden, white-hot anger.
Who changed her clothes?
Was it Casey?
Damn it!
Julian felt a muscle jump in his cheek. He turned toward the door and shouted, “Someone get in here!”
The doctor and hotel manager who had been standing in the hallway rushed inside. “Mr. Grayson, is something wrong?”
“Who changed her clothes?”
Julian’s expression was so dark that the doctor went pale.
“It wasn’t me,” the doctor said quickly, shaking his head. “Really, it wasn’t.”
The manager nodded, just as frantic. “Not me either.”
Julian looked them both over. They didn’t have the guts. “When you came in, what was she wearing?”
The doctor stammered, “S-she was already like this…”
The manager nodded again, swallowing hard.
“Who else was in here?”
The doctor thought for a moment. “It was the gentleman from earlier.”
“Just him?”
