Water dripped from his short hair, his whole presence practically radiating danger.
Madeline’s heart skipped a beat, then started pounding faster.
“Julian!” she blurted out, but before she could say anything else, he was already looming over her, pinning her in place. His presence was overwhelming, stealing all the air from the room. Madeline stared at him, wide-eyed, then glanced down at herself.
She realized she was only wearing a shirt, nothing else underneath. Julian, meanwhile, was wrapped in nothing but a towel.
Her pulse hammered in her ears as she blurted, “You perv, what did you do to me?”
Julian saw the panic in her eyes and instantly understood what she was thinking. His lips curled into a cold, mocking smile, a hint of mischief flickering in his gaze. “What do you think happened? You sure didn’t complain a minute ago. Who are you trying to fool with that face?”
Madeline’s eyes went wide with disbelief.
Was he saying… they’d slept together?
No way.
She didn’t feel any different. If they’d actually done it, wouldn’t she notice something? Unless… Julian was just that bad. Maybe he was useless. Maybe he couldn’t even make her feel a thing.
But then she looked at him, half-naked, fresh out of the shower, and caught sight of herself in just his shirt. Her mind started spinning all over again.
Julian watched her face drain of color, her expression a mess of shock and confusion. He snorted. “What now? Reminiscing?”
Madeline frowned and shoved at his chest, trying to keep some space between them as he leaned in closer. Her mind was still foggy, replaying his words. The way he was acting, it sure sounded like something had happened.
She bit her lip and glared up at him. “Julian.”
He raised an eyebrow, looking down at her. “Yeah?”
