Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 278

Julian let out a cold laugh. “Got so much energy? Then get up.”

He didn’t bother to look back, just turned and walked into the bathroom.

Madeline swallowed her anger and pushed herself off the bed. She grabbed her pants from the floor, pulled them on, and made straight for the door.

“Where do you think you’re going?” His voice was like ice, stopping her in her tracks.

Her hand tightened around the doorknob, but no sooner had she opened the door than the bodyguards outside blocked her way and pushed her back inside.

Julian was already dressed in a crisp suit, sitting on the black leather sofa, his eyes locked on her. He looked calm, almost bored.

Madeline’s hands curled into fists at her sides. “What do you want now?”

“You’re getting a check-up tomorrow.”

She blinked. “Who is?”

“You.”

“What kind of check-up?”

“A full physical.”

She frowned, annoyed. “Why? I’m not even sick.”

“Not sick? You seem pretty sick to me.”

She shot back, “You’re the one who’s sick.”

He shrugged. “Sure, I’m sick. It’s not like this is news to you. I said you’re getting a check-up. Stop giving me attitude.”

Madeline stared at him, completely confused. Why was he suddenly insisting on a check-up? Was he losing it? The whole thing was just weird.

Julian’s gaze never left her, and when he noticed her confusion, he didn’t bother to explain. Instead, his lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. “Madeline, I’m honestly curious. How many things are you still hiding from me?”

“I won’t mind digging up every single one of your secrets.”

But Madeline just looked bored. She didn’t even try to hide her indifference. “Well, your sweetheart’s calling. What are you waiting for?”

Julian’s brow twitched. Her cold, distant expression hit him harder than he wanted to admit.

He pressed his lips together, stared at her for a couple of seconds, then stood up and walked out.

Madeline moved quickly, hoping to slip out behind him. This was her chance.

But before she could take another step, the door slammed shut in her face.

She heard his voice from outside. “Keep an eye on her. Don’t let her leave.”

Madeline’s jaw clenched. She kicked the door in frustration, cursing Julian under her breath.

She checked her phone for the time. It was already past eleven. She was about to call the housekeeper so no one at home would worry.

But then she noticed a bunch of missed calls from Noah from about half an hour ago. One of them had actually been answered.
