Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 291

Madeline pushed herself off the ground, hands braced on her knees. “We don’t have time. Come on, let’s go.”

Brenda saw how determined she was, so she just nodded and hurried into the car with her.

Marian stood frozen, completely shell-shocked by what had happened. Madeline glanced at her, but there was no time to explain. They had to leave. At least Marian would be safe here for now.

In the other car, one man was driving while another held Noah in place. The man wasn’t hurting him. Instead, he spoke in a careful, respectful voice. “Don’t be scared. Mr. Grayson sent us to bring you home.”

Noah lashed out with his fists and feet, like a wild animal. Nothing they said got through to him. All he could think about was how these men had hurt his mom.

“Please listen. Mr. Grayson misses you. He sent us to take you home. We won’t hurt you. There’s no need to be afraid,” the man tried again, gentle and patient.

Noah’s eyes were red and furious as he glared at them. “You hurt my mom!”

“We didn’t have a choice. We’re just following orders. Whatever he says, we have to do.”

Noah’s glare wavered. He hesitated for a second, and in that moment, some of the anger in his eyes shifted to surprise. “It was... Daddy?”

The man’s expression flickered, but he nodded. “Yes. We’re taking you back to the Grayson house now.”

Noah’s big eyes trembled, full of confusion.

Why would Dad do this?

Back at the Fortner house, Raine and Helene sat together on the couch. Helene glanced at a message on her phone and smiled to herself.

It worked.

Madeline’s face had gone pale, lips pressed tight. When she saw the car drive into the Grayson estate, she let out a shaky breath. At least Julian wouldn’t hurt the boy.

The relief didn’t last. A cold determination took over. She opened the door and marched toward the gate. The guards recognized her, but things had changed. Ever since Lucy had ordered that Madeline couldn’t see Julian anymore, she’d also told the staff not to let Madeline onto the property.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Monroe. Mrs. Grayson said you’re not allowed inside.”

Madeline was desperate, but she kept her cool. “Was that car just now one of yours?”

The guard nodded. “Yes, it was.”

If it hadn’t been a Grayson car, there’s no way they’d have let it through.
