Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 474

Casey let out a laugh, handed Helene over to his guys, and strolled out without looking back.

Helene watched him leave and started shouting after him, her voice echoing down the hall. Cody stepped forward, phone in hand, and aimed it at her. “Ms. Fortner, over here. Look at the camera.”

“You’re all liars! You promised, and you broke your word!”

Cody didn’t even flinch. His voice stayed calm and flat. “I hope you understand who started this, Ms. Fortner. You hurt Madeline, but we didn’t go after you for revenge. All we want is for you to admit what you did, in front of everyone. That’s us being nice. If you don’t want to cooperate, we’ve got other ways to settle the score.”

He sounded so casual, but to Helene, his words felt like a threat she couldn’t escape.

Nice? They called this being nice? Making her confess everything, right there for the whole world to see, posting it online… that would destroy her. In what world was that nice?

The whole mess had already blown up online. Everyone was talking about it.

Meanwhile, over in the Capital, the most powerful family in the city, the Ballards, had gathered. Three family elders stared at the photos of Madeline all over the internet, eyes brimming with tears. “Miss, we finally found you.”

“Someone, get to the Capital right now. Bring back our future matriarch.”

“No, we’re going ourselves.”

The three of them rushed out, not wasting a second.

...

Madeline did exactly what the man told her, heading up to the third floor. The last room on the left was a study. The door was unlocked, so she slipped inside.

The curtains were drawn tight. The room was pitch dark, not a bit of light getting through. Madeline felt along the wall until she found the switch.

The lights blinked on, flooding the room with brightness.

She didn’t have time to lose. Madeline started searching for the key right away, her movements quick and anxious.

Where would it be?

She checked every drawer, every shelf, every spot she could think of. Still nothing.

Suddenly, a voice came from the doorway. “Miss, what are you looking for?”

Madeline froze. She turned to see a man in a butler’s uniform standing there.

“I’ve got it. You don’t need to follow me,” Madeline said, striding out of the room.

The butler didn’t question her and stayed put like she asked.

Not wanting to risk anything, Madeline hurried back downstairs and went straight to the man, key in hand.

“That was fast,” he said, leaning back on the sofa like he owned it.

Madeline held up the key. “Is this the one?”

He nodded, chin tilted up. “Go ahead, try it.”

But Madeline pulled her hand back. “I’ll unlock you, but you have to help me send a message first.”

“You can’t get a message out from here.”

“If you can hack into the security system, you can figure out a way to send a message,” Madeline said, meeting his eyes.

He let out a low laugh. “Whatever you say, sweetheart.”
