Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 681

"Don't you dare pretend to be some kind of saviour!" The tears were running freely now and I let them, because there was no point hiding anything anymore. "You think I don't know what you were doing behind my back? I know you poisoned me with Hemovax! I know you were planning to auction me off to other men! You didn't care whether I lived or died, so don't stand there acting like you ever cared about me!"

"So what?" he snapped. "I bought you. Which means you belonged to me. I had every right to do whatever I wanted with you, and you stabbed me in the back! And as if that wasn't enough, you married Sparrow, my archenemy, and helped him plan his attack on me. You helped him destroy my home!"

Scarlett moved. One step forward, straight into the space between the gun and me, and my heart lurched.

"It was me!" Her voice rang off the walls. "I did everything! Tasha's innocent, she knows nothing about any of this. I'm the one who snuck into your base, pretended to be someone else, worked for you to gather information. I'm the one who took everything I learned to Sparrow so we could bring you down. Tasha had nothing to do with it! I forced her to marry Sparrow, but she is not the one he loves, I am. If you want to punish someone, punish me. Just let Tasha go. This is between you and me."

He smiled at her, slow and unpleasant.

"Scarlett, Scarlett. I've heard about your legendary love for Tasha, and I must say, I'm impressed." He let the silence sit for a moment. "But Tasha has already started paying the price for her betrayal. Now it's your turn to play your part."

He tilted his head, studying her like merchandise.

"You want Tasha to survive, don't you? Well, her life is in your hands. But first of all, move to the side."

"Tell me what you want me to do." Scarlett's voice cracked on the last word as she moved to my right, her hands still raised. "I'll do anything."

"Of course you will. You know, Scarlett, you're one of the most capable women I've ever met. Even back when we shared those good times together in bed, you were always my favourite. The best. Excellent at everything you did."

"Just tell me what you want!" She stamped her foot, and even with a gun pointed at us she managed to sound like a woman being kept waiting at a counter.

"It's simple. I have a package waiting somewhere. I will stay here with Tasha while you go out and collect it. Then you'll deliver it to the location I specify. Complete the task, come back, and I let you and Tasha walk away."
