Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 103

"Amber, I know my grades are trash, but I'm trying. You say we're friends, buddies, brothers in arms—so is leaving me out of whatever you and Tillie are doing how friends treat each other?" Vance complained. He had a million things he wanted to say to her since yesterday.

But he kept getting interrupted, whether it was Sharif's coffee delivery, Lucian and Joanne's drama, or the swarms of underclassmen.

He had spent all last night planning today's welcome ceremony, just hoping she would compliment him.

Instead, she barely glanced at it, seemingly completely oblivious to the heart he'd poured into the gesture.

Amber frowned, unsure why Vance had suddenly become so clingy, but she didn't want to lie to him either. "I'm going to my dad's construction site. He and Xanthe are selling lunch prep boxes today, and I need to check on them." As for Tillie, Amber had no intention of telling Vance that she was seeking out her sponsor.

This was the first hurdle in changing Tillie's destiny; she had to rely on herself.

"Oh!" Vance blinked. "Did your dad start a catering business?"

"No, he's just helping Xanthe get used to the environment. He'll go back to his regular site work soon," Amber corrected him.

Vance was even more confused. "Who's Xanthe? Shouldn't it be..." He glanced out of the corner of his eye at Lucian, who was still sitting in his seat instead of heading to the cafeteria. "Shouldn't it be Grace?"

Did Arthur and Grace actually break up?

Well, it made sense. Amber and Lucian had completely cut ties, so there was no reason the adults wouldn't do the same.

Amber didn't elaborate. "Stop gossiping and go do your practice tests. I'm leaving."

"No way, I'm coming with you. I haven't met Xanthe yet!" Vance grabbed his backpack and chased after her.

Lucian's eyes darkened with displeasure. In the past, whether class was in session or over, the only person Amber chased after was him. Vance, that simpleton, was making his crush way too obvious.

"Joanne, let's go eat out."

His mother had transferred him some money yesterday, telling him to focus on exams and eat off-campus if the cafeteria food was bad.

In reality, she just wasn't making him lunch anymore.

Joanne smiled sweetly. "Okay."

She smoothly put away her phone, having just texted Wade that Amber was heading to her dad's construction site.

Looping her arm through Lucian's, she asked, "What are you in the mood for?"

"Whatever you want."
