Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 135

Inside the Madison Group tower.

Having concluded his meeting, Sharif sat listening to Julian's report on the principal's recent phone call.

"Mr. Madison, are you genuinely not going to intervene?"

Sharif leaned back in his leather executive chair, his long, sculpted fingers resting lightly against the desk.

He twirled an expensive fountain pen, his eyes—as dark and unfathomable as a bottomless pool—showing no reaction to the anxiety in Julian's voice.

"Intervene? And do what, exactly? Expose her to an even more catastrophic wave of Yvonne's insanity?"

Julian paused, instantly realizing his misstep. "My apologies, Mr. Madison. I wasn't thinking it through."

Sharif truly couldn't step in here.

Yvonne had clearly targeted Amber specifically because of him. While Sharif did want to use this to test Amber's capabilities, assuming she didn't have someone else backing her, directly interfering would only confirm whatever wild rumors Yvonne had heard. That would put Amber in extreme peril.

Sharif had no choice but to feign indifference and let Amber handle it, which was, ironically, the only way to protect her.

Yvonne was a psychopath, but she operated under the delusion that she was highly logical.

As long as he didn't intervene, his apparent apathy would keep Yvonne from escalating. But the moment he stepped in, Yvonne would use it as the ultimate excuse to go completely unhinged.

Yvonne wasn't like Joanne's father and his street thugs—she was a sophisticated threat. If Sharif didn't play this perfectly, the fallout wouldn't just hit Amber and her family; it would hit the entire corporation.

Sharif trusted Amber. A nuisance like Yvonne wouldn't break her.

Still, he couldn't completely suppress a lingering sliver of concern.

"Did she... say anything else?"

Like asking for help, perhaps?

Julian repeated Mr. Lambert's exact transcription of Amber's rejection speech.

Every single word Amber had used to shut Yvonne down was airtight—except for one specific line. She had asked why Yvonne hadn't come earlier, claiming that if she had, Amber would have had a backup plan because she was 'terrified Mr. Madison wouldn't select her.'

Sharif turned the phrase over in his mind. The Little Fox definitely knew he had people watching over her in the shadows. She knew about the private investigators, so she undoubtedly knew about the two bodyguards as well.

"Have Charles trace exactly where Yvonne got her intel. It was far too precise for a coincidence."

The sponsorship hadn't been made public. Aside from Amber herself and the corporation's highest security clearance, how on earth did Yvonne find out?

"Right away," Julian replied.

He turned to leave, but then spun back around. "Mr. Madison, should I send Amber a quick text? Just to clarify your stance?"

Julian felt that his boss couldn't just stay entirely silent. He might be used to Sharif's emotional detachment, but Amber was just a high schooler. No matter how brilliant she was at business, she was up against Yvonne Sargent. The principal hadn't stepped in to protect her, and the young girl might take this the wrong way.
