Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 164

Without the obnoxious, toxic presence of Lucian and his mother, Amber felt fantastic.

"Dad, you were so cool back there. I'm so proud of you!"

Before she could even give him a thumbs-up, Arthur glared at her. "Proud of me? Does that mean you were ashamed of me before?"

Amber clicked her tongue. "No, Dad..."

"It's getting late. Go home and get some rest. You absolutely cannot miss your exams tomorrow."

Arthur really didn't want to talk about it anymore. He had said his piece, but his chest still physically ached.

No matter how bad things had gotten, he was still a father. Breaking down in front of his teenage daughter just felt wrong.

"Dad..."

Amber wanted to offer a few words of comfort, but Xanthe chimed in, "Amber, listen to your dad. Head home. I'm here with him."

No matter the situation, Amber's presence made things slightly awkward.

Her dad was definitely hurting. Twelve years was a long time. Even losing a dog after that long would make anyone cry.

"Alright, I'll head back. I'll come straight here after my exams tomorrow. I'm leaving, Dad. Be careful tonight." Although they weren't in the same room, they were still in the same hospital. Lucian wasn't the type to stay overnight and watch over someone, which meant Grace would definitely try to pull another stunt.

Arthur knew exactly what she was implying. With his back turned to her, he said, "I know. Just go. Let the adults handle adult matters."

"Okay, okay, I'll stay out of it. Take good care of Xanthe, Dad. I brought dinner for you too."

Arthur practically shoved her out the door. Amber frowned, deciding not to push it, and started walking away. Just then, her phone buzzed.

She pulled it out and her pupils contracted. The perks of having power were truly something. In less than two hours, Sharif had already delivered what she asked for.

Amber opened the email, and as she scanned the background check Sharif had provided, her breath hitched. Just as she had suspected—Xanthe's ex-husband was the ultimate trash!

Amber typed out a quick reply: [Mr. Madison, could I trouble you to get a DNA report between this man and his so-called son?]

As soon as Sharif received the intel from Julian, he had immediately forwarded it to Amber.

Although he hadn't known the exact context, seeing that she had requested the man's medical records regarding a very specific fertility issue, he instantly realized the little fox was trying to get justice for a relative.

Julian had immediately reached out to local contacts.

Finding the guy wasn't hard. As long as there were records, they could be pulled instantly. The tricky part was that it happened fifteen years ago. It was difficult, but if Sharif wanted answers, they would dig up the man's ashes if they had to.

Fortunately, the records were complete. Sharif had merely glanced at them before having Julian send them over, thinking to himself: *Isn't one home-cooked meal a little too cheap for this level of service?*

Even if she was cooking it herself.

Was her cooking even edible?

Sharif was actually starting to wonder—would she take this opportunity to poison him!?

Probably not. Poisoning him wouldn't benefit her, and whoever was backing her wouldn't be that stupid either.

He realized he was still underestimating her. For some reason, whenever it came to Amber, he felt entirely out of control. Sometimes he genuinely wondered if she had cast a spell on him.

While he was lost in thought, her reply pinged. Seeing the contents, his mouth twitched. *One meal was definitely too cheap for this.*
