Sharif wrapped up his work, shut down his laptop, and headed toward the executive bathroom to shower and rest.
Just as he undid the top two buttons of his shirt, he froze. He quickly buttoned them back up, grabbed the files and laptop from his desk, grabbed his jacket, and walked out of the office.
He had just remembered that the little fox was coming over to cook for him tomorrow. There was no way he was sleeping in the office tonight.
He called Lyle, who brought the car around to the entrance immediately after receiving the order.
Sharif stepped out of the building just as the car pulled up.
Lyle was still confused about why Mr. Madison suddenly wanted to go back to Harbor Heights. His mind flashed back to the gossip Julian had texted him earlier that afternoon.
Julian had said: [Mr. Madison won't be working late or sleeping in the office tonight.]
Lyle had asked: [Why not?]
Julian: [Amber has plans with him.]
Lyle hadn't understood what that meant. He had waited in the car until 10:30 PM, figuring that if Mr. Madison didn't text him in the next half hour, he would just clock out. Then, five minutes before his shift ended, he received the boss's orders.
Lyle thought it was practically a miracle. As he pulled up to wait for Sharif, he immediately texted Julian: [What exactly is going on? Mr. Madison just told me to take him home.]
Julian replied with a yawn: [I already told you. Amber has plans with him.]
Lyle still wasn't getting it: [What does Amber having plans have to do with Mr. Madison going back to Harbor Heights? Are you saying Amber and Mr. Madison are meeting up at Harbor Heights? Holy crap, Julian, is this real?]
[Except for the housekeeper, no woman is allowed into Harbor Heights without Mr. Madison's mother or sister-in-law giving a heads-up first. And he's actually inviting Amber over?]
[Julian, is Mr. Madison finally making a move?]
Julian sent an eye-roll emoji: [No, Mr. Madison is setting a honey trap with himself as the bait.]
Lyle: [?]
Not knowing how to explain it quickly, Julian just texted: [Amber is going grocery shopping tomorrow and coming to Harbor Heights to cook for him personally. He agreed.]
Lyle: [?]
[He agreed? Why would he agree to that?]
Julian: [I'm just as confused, but I think he wants to probe her to see who's really backing her.]
[She missed her exam, right? And didn't she ask him to look into someone for her? He probably figured that since she was walking right into his den, he might as well take a bite.]
Lyle finally understood: [Oh, a seduction tactic! I get it now. But wait... is she even eighteen yet?]
Julian: [?]
Lyle: [Even if she isn't, it doesn't matter. If Mr. Madison can just act like a beast for once, I'll finally be able to report back to the Chairman, Madam, the eldest Young Master, and his wife.]
[Should I tell the Chairman about this? I really like this girl. I bet the Chairman will like her too.]
Julian: [......]
