Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 188

With the Exam prep period underway, Amber was busier than ever.

Her first priority was making Vance memorize exam questions.

Early in the morning, the two of them arrived at the downtown library. Looking at the mountain of questions Amber had set out for him, Vance unconsciously gulped.

Amber didn't spare him a glance, just dropping one ultimatum: "If you can't memorize this, no dinner tonight."

Vance immediately thought of his childhood when his mom used the exact same threat to teach him how to write.

"Amber..."

The moment a sliver of protest left his lips, it was instantly killed by the murderous glare Amber shot him from across the table. He immediately backed down. "No problem, I'll memorize them."

Since they had sworn on it, he was a man; he had to keep his word.

As Vance quieted down, Amber flipped open the six-figure, high-end laptop Sharif had given her. This was her second major priority.

In her past life, when Amber was doing background checks on the Madison Group for Lucian, she accidentally discovered that Sharif had been acquiring shares in several small shell companies during this exact timeframe. Since the day she got her hands on the laptop, she had already used the modest savings on her dad's bank card to buy a few stocks, but that was nowhere near enough for Amber to achieve financial freedom.

Every night after study hall or before classes, she religiously followed the financial news. First, because her memory of this specific period was a bit blurry; second, because if she wanted true wealth, she had to keep playing the market.

Choosing the library for the prep period just made it easier to operate.

Vance would memorize a question and sneak a glance at Amber. He had no idea what she was doing, but he had never seen her look so intensely focused.

She was wearing the same school uniform and her usual high ponytail—nothing out of the ordinary—but for some reason, it made Vance's heart race. Did studying together in the library count as a date?

Vance decided it did. Luckily, he was smart enough to order two iced drinks when they walked in. Even though Amber wasn't looking at him, sitting across from each other like this felt straight out of a romance movie.

He had always envied couples like this and fantasized about experiencing it with the girl he liked. He never expected... Pfft. Vance couldn't help but chuckle out loud, startling Amber. When she looked up at him, his face flushed completely crimson. "Sorry, I didn't mean to."

Vance mentally slapped himself and quickly buried his head back in his notes. Thank god Amber ignored him, otherwise he would have died of embarrassment.

Vance, oh Vance, Amber gave up her own solo study time just so you could get into Zenith University. She's sitting here in the library keeping you company, you need to step up and not let her down.

Your secret wish is finally within reach; you have to work even harder now.

He had no idea that the reason Amber didn't press him on why he was laughing was because she simply didn't have the time. She was completely swamped trying to out-snipe Sharif's traders for stock shares.

Just as Amber had deduced from the financial news, Sharif was currently buying up shares in various companies. He wasn't buying them to manage or operate; he was setting up shell companies to maneuver through the stock market. It was essentially spreading money across multiple baskets, and when the timing was right, he'd pull them back in, bypassing massive risks and red tape to secure astronomical profits.

Julian knocked and entered. Sharif was staring at the stock market trends on his laptop. He had noticed something unusual ten minutes ago and sent Julian to investigate. Julian returned and said, "Mr. Madison, I found it. The IP address shows it's from a library not far from downstairs. Charles is currently contacting the owner to get access to their security cameras."
