Lucian shot up from the sofa.
His fingers flew across the screen, demanding the address from Vance, but right after typing it, he deleted it.
Vance sending the video and photos was an obvious provocation. His beloved Joanne, the girl he would die for, was playing him for a fool.
Even though this wasn't the first time, replying would only give Vance the satisfaction of laughing at him.
Lucian couldn't reply, but Vance helpfully shared the location pin anyway. Lucian grabbed his school jacket and bolted out of his apartment.
He had to find his Joanne.
Meanwhile, from the moment Vance sent those files to Lucian, Joanne's phone hadn't stopped buzzing. Thankfully, she was smart enough to mute it, ensuring no one interrupted her date with Miles.
Running into Amber was unexpected, but Miles's blatant show of affection toward her was undeniable.
However, before she could even display her bashfulness, Vance—who had just sent Lucian the location and intended to stall for time regardless of whether Lucian showed up—strode right in.
"Well, well, if it isn't our School Belle. Joanne, skipping out on studying with your precious Lucian at home or school during exam prep to flirt here? Not bad, handsome. Is he a second-generation or third-generation trust fund kid?"
Joanne felt today was cursed. Running into Amber was nerve-wracking enough, but now Vance was here too.
Damn it, how could she have forgotten? Amber had taken Vance under her wing to tutor him into Zenith University.
Now this loudmouth had seen Miles holding her waist. If she pushed Miles away and claimed Vance was seeing things, it would definitely offend Miles. But if Vance knew, wouldn't the whole class soon find out?
She shot Vance a vicious glare, silently warning him to watch his mouth. If he and Amber dared to ruin this for her, even if Amber had leverage over her, she'd take them both down with her.
—If they wanted to finish their exams in peace, they'd better keep their mouths shut.
"Vance, what is wrong with you and Amber? You both just love talking nonsense. I already told you, whatever happened between Amber and the class monitor has nothing to do with me. You can't just blindly take her side because you have a crush on her."
If it weren't for the school's strict rules against dating, or the fact that it wouldn't benefit her and Lucian, Joanne would have reported Amber and Vance's relationship long ago.
Vance felt like he had been caught red-handed. His face flushed completely crimson. Before he could stammer out a defense, Amber cut in, "Our beautiful School Belle, don't falsely accuse Vance just because he hit a nerve. This handsome guy already said he doesn't care. Besides, how could Lucian even compare to him?"
Vance was a little stunned, but he realized this wasn't the time to correct Joanne's wild claims about him liking Amber. He needed to focus his fire on Joanne.
"School Belle, your new guy isn't bad. Introduce us. Though... man, do you really not mind that she used to be with Lucian?"
"Vance!"
