Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 63

"Arthur, hurry back! Amber... Amber got hit by a car!"

With a loud clatter, Arthur dropped his cloth. He had assumed Amber was calling to ask where he was, but it was Xanthe using Amber's phone.

"What?! Is it serious?! Don't cry, I'm coming back right now!"

Xanthe wasn't good at lying, which made her panicked, tearful delivery incredibly convincing when she told him Amber had been hit.

Grace, who had just been reveling in her own acting skills, instantly dropped her performance. Her face darkened. "Arthur, what's wrong? What happened?"

Was that hussy trying to steal him away?

Arthur panicked. "It's Amber. Something happened to Amber. Grace, I'm so sorry, I have to go check on her right now..." He was completely at a loss, terrified by Xanthe's frantic tone. His daughter was his absolute priority. "Grace, I'll come back and clean later. Lucian, take care of your mom."

He bolted out, nearly crashing into the door frame in his rush.

Grace didn't even have time to object. "Arthur, you're just going to leave? Who's going to clean this up?!"

Later? How much later? Why did that wretched girl have to get hurt right now of all times?

Could it be a trick?

Lucian frowned, his lips curling into a slight smirk. He already guessed Amber was faking it on purpose.

He squeezed the paper cup of water he was holding for his mother until it crumpled.

At the food stall.

"Amber, is he really coming?"

Even though Xanthe had followed Amber's instructions and called Arthur, she was still incredibly nervous. Amber was ruthless—going as far as faking a car accident just to stop Grace from using her dad as a free maid.

It was terrifying!

"Don't worry, Xanthe. If a daughter isn't ruthless, her position isn't secure. From now on, when you deal with Grace, you need to play the same game," Amber coached her.

Xanthe frowned in concern. Just then, a sudden gust of wind swept past them as Arthur sprinted into view, having run the whole way in less than three minutes.

"Amber..." he gasped, his voice ragged with genuine terror.
