"Quit it, it's such an honor to discuss design plans with the CEO's wife! But...how come I never heard that you're hitched? Not even an invite to the wedding makes me feel a bit left out, Mr. Melendez!"
"We didn't have a wedding."
Ricardo chimed in, "The boss' wife thought we were too swamped at work, so she put it off. Now she's working at the headquarters, but not many folks even know her true identity!"
Lambert was taken aback. After all...he thought any woman marrying Emmett would want the whole world to know! He couldn't believe there was a woman who'd keep her marriage under wraps.
"The boss' wife must be a real knockout, right? Can't be just anyone who could snag Mr. Melendez."
"She's pretty average," Emmett couldn't help but smile thinking of Clara's face, "You'll see when you meet her!"
"You've got me all curious! Can't wait to head back to HQ and have a look!" Lambert said, then something struck him, "Oh! It just hit me! The new project at the headquarters is using a new designer's plan, could that be the boss' wife?"
Ricardo nodded, grinning, "That's right, it's the boss' wife!"
"I've seen the design, it's truly outstanding! Top-notch work from all aspects."
Clara returned to the company, feeling a bit down. She wanted to vent to someone but...she realized she didn't have a single female friend to confide in. Before the surrogacy, she was always dodging debt and didn't dare to reveal her true identity. After giving birth, she was filled with fear! So, she never had any besties all these years.
"Sigh..."
Clara laid her head on the desk; she was so tired from yesterday that she fell asleep. If it wasn't for a coworker knocking for documents, she might have slept the day away. After handing over the documents, Clara checked the time, it was already two in the afternoon. Emmett should be back in an hour!
Clara checked her phone, no messages from Elio! Leah hadn't called either. She started to worry. Even though Elio wouldn't usually do anything impulsive, if he hurt himself because of her, she'd feel incredibly guilty!
