"She stepped out?" Emmett raised his eyebrows. "I thought she had a meeting today, right? Is anything special going on that she needs to bustle out?"
Ricardo shook his head. "I'm not so sure myself, but her meeting's probably over. Maybe she has some stuff to take care of."
Emmett waved his hand dismissively and said, "Alright, gotcha. I'll give her a ring later; you do your thing."
"Sure thing, Mr. Melendez."
After Ricardo left, Emmett immediately dialed Clara's number, only to find no one answering!
He wasn't suspecting anything; he was just worried Clara might be in a pickle!
So Emmett decided to shoot her a text. Just as he was about to type, Clara called him up.
"You were looking for me?" Clara asked.
"Where did you run off to? You didn’t even let me in on it."
"Oh, my face felt kind of off, so I went to grab some toner. It took me a while to pick one." Clara chuckled. "Sorry, I'm heading back now!"
"Your face felt off?" Emmett mused, "Alright, come back first; we'll talk then."
After hanging up, Emmett looked at his phone, his inner puzzle intensifying.
Clara didn't seem like the type to go shopping during work hours! So, she must be telling porkies.
But why? What would Clara need to hide?
Could it have something to do with Taylor Atwood?
Emmett got up, heading to Ricardo's office.
Upon seeing him, Ricardo immediately stood up and asked, "What's up, Mr. Melendez? If you need me, just buzz me, and I'll come over!"
"No biggie. Keep an eye on Taylor these couple of days; see what he's up to and who he's meeting."
