He found out all that on his own; Clara never spilled the beans to anyone else.

The doctor sighed after hearing it all and said, "Damn, poor kid, you must cherish her. I just examined her and found that she's as fit as a fiddle; there shouldn't be anything wrong. But she can't be starving herself anymore."

Elio Milburn nodded, "Thanks, doc."

The servant escorted the doctor out and closed the door.

Elio sat by the bed, watching Clara with her eyes still closed.

She was knocked up, definitely carrying Emmett Melendez's kid, but at this point, even with her being pregnant, he couldn’t have sent her back to Emmett.

He could only quarantine her here completely and make sure Emmett couldn't find her or let Leah Calloway discover her. He simply couldn't come up with any better solution.

He touched Clara's cheek and lowered his head, his eyes filled with sadness.

"Why can't you stay with me? Can't you see how much I care about you? It'd be so great if the bun in your oven was mine! I like Alex, and I'd love your child; we could go back to how things were!"

Clara was lying in bed, her eyes tightly shut.

"If Emmett hadn't shown up, I really think you would've gotten used to me and would've stayed with me, even if it was just to give Alex a complete family! But fate's a bitch; everything's changed!"

Elio held Clara's hand tightly.

Suddenly, a new thought dawned on him. Leah's words flashed through his mind.

What if the kid Clara was carrying was his? Would Emmett then give her up?
