"Sure!" Clara agreed immediately, without a hint of hesitation.
This took Leah aback. "You agreed so quickly. Are you really that eager to leave Emmett? Tell me, is it because you've stopped loving him, or are you afraid that I won't give him the antidote?"
"You know quite well!" Clara frowned. "Leah, I can leave, and I probably won't return to Emmett, let alone see him again. But you must give him the antidote!"
"Look at you, worried about my man. You should focus more on yourself in the future! Anyway, I've said my piece. Tomorrow is your last chance to leave, and if you change your mind... Well, you know the consequences!" Leah warned her.
Clara nodded as her hand clenched into a cold fist. "Don't worry, I won't go back on my word."
...
In the children's room, Aiden was busy with his homework.
Suddenly!
The door swung open, and Alex rushed in. "Bro, guess what! I think I just saw Mom!"
"Mom?" The minute he heard this, Aiden stood up from his chair. "Are you sure? Where?"
"In the house out back. I was looking for Grandma but took a wrong turn, and that's when I saw her."
"Why didn't you stop her then?"
"She walked away too quickly. I couldn't catch up, and she didn't seem to hear me calling out to her." Alex pouted. "Do you think Mom doesn't want us anymore? She came home and didn't even look for us."
Aiden frowned, sensing that something was off.
"Are you certain that was Mom?"
