Clara's heart sank like a stone tossed into a deep lake. "Are you saying that Emmett's reaction has progressed to where it should be six months from now?"

"That seems to be the case."

At that moment, Clara felt like she was plunged into an icy cellar.

"What do we do now? Elio, can you track down the owner of this formula? I'm begging you! I'll give you anything you ask for. Just save Emmett!"

Elio did not respond.
