Back in the living room, Clara felt a bit guilty and hid behind Emmett.
When Sophia came out with Aiden, she immediately spotted Clara!
For some reason, she found herself really liking this girl!
"Mom, this is Clara." Emmett promptly pulled Clara out from behind him and pushed her towards his mother.
Clara quickly greeted, "Hello, Mrs. Melendez."
"No need to be so formal! We're all family now!" Sophia smiled, then tugged at Aiden next to her, "Aiden, say hello to Clara!"
Aiden glanced at Clara, pretending as if it was his first time seeing her, and refused to speak. Sophia felt a little embarrassed and scolded, "Aiden! Where are your manners?"
"It's okay, it's okay!" Clara quickly intervened. "It's normal for kids to be afraid of strangers!"
Sophia chuckled and reassured them, "You'll get to know each other better over time! And when are you moving in? I can clean up a room for you in advance! Emmett's room is a bit small. Now that you're married, you should have a master bedroom! I'll clear out the entire third floor for you."
Emmett waved his hand to decline the offer. "No need, we'll be living in my villa up front."
Sophia paused for a moment, then nodded. "That works too! You young people don't like living with your parents, I get it! It's fine."
As long as Emmett could get married and interact with women, they had nothing to ask for!
Emmett knew what his mother was thinking, and felt a bit helpless.
But his parents left a good impression on Clara!
After all, in her mind, Emmett's parents were part of a wealthy family and they would definitely have a condescending attitude!
But today, they were exceptionally warm and friendly.
"Let's eat! Everything's ready in the kitchen."
Emmett nodded, "Let's go."
"Try harder! I need to know as soon as possible," Emmett urged, emphasizing the importance of the matter.
"Alright," Clara replied, determined to put in more effort.
Observing her tense and uneasy demeanor, Emmett became aware of her discomfort. "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Did my parents say something to you privately?"
Clara hastily shook her head. "No! Your parents have been very kind to me. They treat me well."
"Then why the troubled expression?" Emmett pressed for an answer.
"Maybe... I got up too early today and I've been nervous all day, so I'm a bit tired now." Clara rubbed her forehead, "I want to go home and rest early today, so it doesn't affect work tomorrow."
"I have a cocktail party tonight, we're going together."
"Can I not go?" As soon as Clara thought of her promise to her son, she immediately spoke up, "I'm really... very tired!"
