"Dad, can I ask you a question?"

Emmett was taken aback, it took him a few seconds to nod.

This was a first. Aiden never usually initiated questions.

But it felt good.

"Alright, let's go to the study."

"Okay!"

Emmett entered the study, and Aiden immediately placed his homework on the table.

It was a complex problem. It would be hard for an average kid to understand, but Aiden never got bogged down by such questions.

Emmett glanced at him, "You don't understand this?"

"Indeed, I really don't."

"Okay, let me explain it to you." Emmett didn't think twice, he walked him through it.

Knowing that Clara was short on time, Aiden pretended not to understand, "Dad, I'm still a bit confused."

"Then I'll explain it in another way."

Aiden nodded, then suddenly said, "Dad, I feel really happy right now."

Emmett raised an eyebrow, "Why?"

"Because now I have a dad and a mom! I can be like other kids, ask my dad questions, and sleep with my mom! When I come home from school, I can see both of you at home, not just grandma and grandpa like before."

"I'm sorry, I didn't give you enough love before."

"Then can you give me more attention from now on?"

"Sure." Emmett thought for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Aiden, would you mind if you had a brother?"

Aiden was taken aback, "I have a brother?"

"Just answer the question."

"Are you and Ms. Calloway going to have another baby?"

Emmett shook his head, "No, what if you already have a brother, a twin brother, would you accept that?"

Aiden pursed his lips.

He felt like his dad was testing him, but also not. Even if his dad knew about Alex's existence, he shouldn't know that he had seen Alex.

So he simply shook his head, "Dad, I haven't thought about this."

"I see." This was indeed a question most people wouldn't consider.

Emmett smiled, "Then let's continue with your question."

"That's not important, given his condition, I have to be with him!"

"That's great! Once you're here, I won't feel pain anymore! Come quickly!"

"Okay, wait for me! But on one condition, you have to listen to Mr Milburn and the doctors, okay? Take good care of your injury, I can only take you out when I get there!"

He nodded vigorously, "I know! I'll be good."

It wasn't until the video call ended that Clara left her room.

She knew she couldn't keep Aiden waiting too long, he must be stalling Emmett.

"Knock knock—"

Clara knocked on the door of Emmett's study.

Soon, Emmett came to open the door, "I thought you'd gone to bed."

"I'm sorry, I...had something to deal with." Clara glanced at the small figure in the study, whispering, "I have something to discuss with you."

Emmett paused for a moment, then nodded, "Okay, let's go to my room."

"Okay."
