"Get in." Emmett walked over, his face still as expressionless as before, but he took Aiden's backpack and slung it over his wrist.

This gesture was just like a typical dad picking his kid up from school.

"Dad, why are you here to pick me up today? Didn't Ms. Calloway have to go abroad for something? Aren't I supposed to go back to Grandma's?"

He originally left the Melendez family to get closer to Clara. Now that Clara was abroad, he thought he would return to them.

"So, you want to go back?" Emmett asked.

Aiden thought for a moment, "I'm okay with anything! Aren't you busy with work? Do you have time to put me to sleep?"

Emmett frowned slightly, "You're this old and still need someone to put you to sleep? Are you scared?"

"Of course not! I just... I'm not used to sleeping in a new bed, so I want someone to talk to me, tell me stories, and then I'll fall asleep when I'm tired." Aiden squinted and smiled. He felt close to his dad for the first time! They were like a typical father and son.

He honestly really liked this feeling!

Whenever he saw fathers picking up their kids from school, he would instinctively look away.

"I'll tell you math problems tonight."

"So, Daddy is going to put me to sleep?" Aiden couldn't help but get excited.

He had never slept with his dad before.

"Sort of." Emmett opened the car door, "What do you want to eat? I have a meeting in two hours, so you can do your homework during that time, and after the meeting, I'll go over the problems with you."

Aiden replied, "Okay!"

"Is there anything you want to eat?"

"Um..." Aiden thought for a long time before hesitantly saying, "I want fried chicken."

"Why do you suddenly want to eat junk food?"

Emmett remembered that his mother never let Aiden eat fast food.

"I want to get used to that kind of food! Because I have a... really good friend who loves to eat that stuff! I want to have more common interests with him."

"If you're willing to accommodate him, he must really be a good friend." Emmett smiled, "Okay, whatever you choose, we'll eat."

Emmett looked at his son's innocent eyes, his heart softened, and he reached out to ruffle his son's hair.

"Of course! She is already married to your dad, so she will be your mom from now on."

"Can I call her mom?"

"Yes, as long as you're willing."

He was initially worried that with Aiden's personality, the two of them might not get along well, and Aiden might even reject Clara!
