"You won't even give me a chance. Why do you always impose your thoughts on me? Yeah, the Melendez family is powerful, but we Milburns are a big clan. Over the years, countless people have benefited from us. The Melendez family won't find it easy to mess with us!"
"Elio! Why don't you get it? I don't want to drag you down!"
"I'm not scared!" Elio grabbed her wrist firmly, pausing for a few seconds before he said, "In my life, I have never felt this deeply for a woman. You're the only one! I don't know what it is about you that draws me in, but I don't care if you have a kid, if you'll stir up trouble with the Melendez family, or what others think of me!"
Clara fell silent.
"Every time I see another woman, if I get even a bit close to them, I will think of you. They make me feel sick! Give me a chance, will you? Let me see if I can be a good father and husband."
Clara lowered her head, "Elio, I can't love anyone else. I'm not a complete woman anymore! You'll be disappointed with me because I've given up on love. No matter what you do, I won't be moved. I won't fall for you because of it. Have you thought about that?"
"But I know that once you marry me, you won't divorce me easily, and you won't go looking for other men! Even if I'm not in your heart, there's no one else."
Clara was again silent.
"Be with me, Clara! Think about it! The Melendez family has already found me. It won't be long before Alex is discovered. If we have to fight a custody battle, you need to stand in a position that’s almost equal to the Melendez family to win! If you're alone, you hardly stand a chance."
Clara stayed silent.
She knew this all too well.
What surprised him was that Aiden had a natural talent for this. With just a little guidance, Aiden could grasp it immediately.
"Oh, it looks like I can retire early." Emmett felt content.
But he also felt a little regretful.
How could he have neglected this child before? He missed out on so much time with his son.
Before, he always felt like he didn't have time to spend with his child. He used to believe that it was enough for him as long as there were plenty of people to take care of him and he had enough food and clothing. But now, he found that spending time with his child was so interesting! The pride he felt when he saw that his son was so smart, was even greater than when he closed a big deal.
