“Please, it’s nothing to worry about. Arabella and I are friends. It was no trouble at all,” Lucas replied with a warm smile.
Edward gave Lucas an appreciative nod, said a final goodbye to Arabella, and then turned to make his way back to his hospital room.
Watching him leave, Arabella let out a quict sigh. She had been hoping to spend more leisurely time with him, strolling along the beach. She hadn’t anticipated injuring her foot, which had thrown all her plans into disarray.
Turning back to Lucas now that they were alone, she said, “Thank you again for today. It was lucky I ran into you; otherwise, getting to the hospital would have been much more difficult.”
“Don’t mention it. Let me drive you home now,” Lucas offered, looking at her.
“I really can’t trouble you any further. I’ve already called one of my brothers to come get me. You should head home and get some rest,” Arabella said with a grateful smile.
“Your brother? But he just left. How is he going to take you home?” Lucas asked, looking confused.
“Oh, not that brother. A different one. Don’t worry; he’ll be here soon,” Arabella explained, gently urging Lucas to leave.
“Well, in that case, I won’t insist on driving you. But I’ll wait here with you until he arrives. If something comes up and he can’t make it, at least there will be someone here to ensure you get home safely,” Lucas said thoughtfully.
He wasn’t comfortable leaving her alone and wanted to see a family member arrive before he departed with a clear conscience.
“He’ll definitely come. You’ve been helping me for a while now; you must be tired. Please, go home and rest,” Arabella tried to persuade him.
“It’s really fine; I’m not tired. I’ll wait,” Lucas insisted, showing no sign of leaving.
Seeing his resolve, Arabella felt she couldn’t push further. She couldn’t exactly force him out.
So, the two of them sat on the chairs in the waiting area, quietly anticipating Ethan’s arrival.
Fortunately, a car pulled up in front of Kindwell Hospital fairly quickly. Ethan stepped out and walked briskly toward the outpatient area, his expression one of clear concern. He had driven over as fast as possible after receiving Arabella’s message.
As soon as he entered the treatment room, Ethan saw Arabella sitting in a chair, her foot neatly bandaged.
He immediately frowned and strode over to her. “What happened to your foot? Does it hurt badly? Did they treat it properly?” he asked, his voice thick with worry.
Seeing his anxious face, Arabella tried to sound reassuring. “Don’t worry, it’s not serious at all. Just scraped

off a little skin. The nurse cleaned and dressed it perfectly. Now, take me home,” she said, blinking her large eyes up at him as if she weren’t the injured party at all.
“If it’s not serious, that’s a relief,” Ethan said, some of the tension leaving his shoulders as he saw her acting normally.
“But how did this happen exactly?” Ethan asked, his curiosity piqued, completely unaware of Lucas standing nearby.
“I’ll explain everything on the way home. Ethan, this is Lucas, my flight instructor at the academy. He’s also a friend. He was kind enough to bring me to the hospital,” Arabella said, gesturing toward Lucas.
“Hello, I’m Lucas,” Lucas said, stepping forward with a polite nod.
“Hello, I’m her brother, Ethan. Thank you for bringing my sister to the hospital,” Ethan said, extending his hand in gratitude.
“Please, don’t mention it. I just happened to be nearby and was able to give her a ride,” Lucas replied with a courteous smile.
“Well then, now that my brother is here, you can relax and head home to get some rest,” Arabella said to Lucas, urging him once more.
“Alright, I’ll take my leave then. See you another time.” After bidding them farewell, Lucas turned and left the hospital.
Ethan looked back at Arabella. “You probably can’t walk comfortably, can you? Should I carry you to the car?”
“No need for that. Just help me walk,” Arabella said. Earlier on the beach, it had been an emergency with no wheelchair in sight, so she had reluctantly allowed Lucas to carry her. Now, with the foot properly bandaged, she was sure she could manage with Ethan’s support.
Ethan glanced at her bandaged foot skeptically. “I can help you walk, sure. But are you planning to hop all the way to the car on one foot?”
Arabella looked at him, pausing for a few seconds as she considered this.
Then Ethan said, “Wait here a moment. I’ll go find a wheelchair.” He promptly went off to locate one.
A few minutes later, Ethan returned with a wheelchair and carefully helped Arabella into it. He wheeled her out to the car, then gently assisted her out of the chair and into the passenger seat before getting in himself. He started the engine and set off for Cloudrise Manor.
“So,” Ethan began, glancing at her as he drove, “now can you tell me how you hurt your foot?”
