“Mom, be sure to add extra shrimp for Arabella, and since you’re at it, whip up a plate for me too,” Ethan said, trying to hitch a ride on Arabella’s request to get some pastas for himself.

“You still want pastas? Maybe I’ll just bring you a bowl of the broth later.” Florence glanced at Ethan before turning toward the kitchen.

Ethan feigned a sharp intake of breath. “Mom! Even a plain bowl would be fine.” Then, he cleverly turned to Arabella with a grin. “Arabella, Mom is definitely going to make you a huge portion. If you can’t finish it, you can always share with me.”

“No problem,” Arabella replied with a smile.

“How is the company expansion plan coming along?” Jonathan asked Arabella.

“Still revising the blueprints,” she answered.

She then looked at Ethan. “Ethan, how are the blueprints on your end progressing?”

“Almost done with the revisions. I’ll send them your way soon,” Ethan replied.

“Okay.”

Seeing that things seemed to be on track, Jonathan didn’t press further.

“Arabella, how has your flight training been going lately?” Ethan suddenly remembered and asked.

“I think it’s going pretty well. I’ve already moved on to the simulator,” Arabella said, a hint of pride in her

voice.

Ethan looked surprised. “Weren’t you just on ground school a few days ago? You’re already on the simulator?”

“Yep. What can I say? I’m a fast learner,” Arabella replied with a slight, confident smirk.

Seeing her self–assurance, Ethan chuckled. “That’s my sister–naturally gifted, just like her brother.”

Listening to what sounded like a compliment aimed mostly at himself, Arabella gave him a look of playful disdain. “You really have a way of praising someone.”

“Not bad, right?” Ethan grinned.

Jonathan watched his children’s easy banter, thoroughly amused.

“By the way, I haven’t seen Naomi since I got back. Where is she?” Ethan asked Jonathan.

Usually, Naomi would come downstairs to join them as soon as he was home, but she was conspicuously absent today.

“Naomi was feeling a bit bored at home, so she went to stay with Ruby for a few days,” Jonathan said,

“She’s still on the simulator,” Arabella said calmly.

“Still? Didn’t she start before you?” Ethan looked at Arabella, surprised.

“She did start earlier. But from what I gather, her instructor didn’t feel her recent performance was up to standard, so she’s likely re–doing some modules,” Arabella explained. She sometimes saw Naomi still practicing during her own breaks.

Ethan found it both amusing and a little exasperating. He sighed. “See, she’s not my real sister–just doesn’t have the knack for it. She’s been at it so long and still hasn’t caught up to your pace.”

Arabella didn’t comment, merely raising a questioning eyebrow at Ethan.

“The pastas are ready! Ethan, bring your sister over to eat,” Florence called from the dining area after setting down the bowls.

“Got it; we’re coming,” Ethan replied, wheeling Arabella toward the table.

Seeing two steaming bowls waiting, Arabella glanced at Ethan and raised an eyebrow. “See? Mom made you a bowl after all.”

Ethan shot a grateful smile at Florence. “Thanks, Mom.”

Florence gave him a look. “Try it and see how it tastes.”

Ethan picked up his fork, twirled a bite, and took it. His eyes lit up. “This is incredible!

“Arabella, hurry up and try it,” Ethan urged, looking at her.

Seeing his exaggerated reaction, Arabella took a bite as well. Her eyes widened in genuine surprise. “Mom, how did you make this? It’s amazing!”

Florence smiled warmly at them. “I have my secret recipe for the broth. If you like it, I’ll make it for you again.”

Ethan nodded with serious appreciation. “It’s so good I could eat it every day.”
