Chapter 338 Uncovering the Truth
Who inside the company could it possibly be…?
Thirty minutes later…
“Ms. Hamilton, we have a lead!” Chloe rushed into the office, her tone tinged with urgency and a hint of relief.
Arabella looked up, her voice low. “Go on.”

“It was Jacob Kirk from the IT department.” Chloe let out a sigh. “Thankfully, your analysis was spot–on. If we hadn’t shifted our focus internally, we might never have identified him. The company could have suffered a major setback.”
“Jacob?” Arabella frowned. “What was his motive?”
The IT department was treated well within the company–compensation and benefits were second only to the R&D team. They hadn’t been unfair to him.
“Well…” Chloe sighed. “He said it was to pay for his mother’s medical treatments. He’d already exhausted the family’s savings, and with his mother critically ill and no money left for her care, he felt he had no other choice.”
Arabella’s pupils contracted slightly, her expression turning grave.
“Ms. Hamilton, I’ve already notified the authorities. They’ll take over from here. It’s just…” Chloe hesitated, a touch of sympathy in her voice. “Jacob’s mother… Her prognosis isn’t good.”
Without the funds to continue treatment, the elderly woman’s situation was dire.
Arabella was silent for a long moment before speaking. “I understand.”
Chloe glanced at her, not entirely sure what she meant, but simply replied, “I’ll leave you to it, then.”
“Mm,” Arabella acknowledged.
After Chloe left, Arabella dialed Colton’s number.
“I need you to look into something for me…”
“Alright Stand by for an update,” Colton agreed.
Hanging up, Arabella’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully
While Jacob’s motive was understandable what about the opportunity?
How had he conceived of taking such a risk, and how had he managed it !
Horizon Corp’s CEO office….
“Sir, the situation has been resolved,” Andy reported as he entered “A core research file was stolen from the palmares company… Dr. Hamilton has already contained it. Fortunately, no significant damage occurred*
Hearing Andy’s report, Matthew raised an eyebrow. “She’s sharp”

“Indeed. The culprit was from the IT department. All the staged evidence pointed toward an external breach, clearly intended to misdirect the investigation. But Dr. Hamilton saw through the inconsistencies, and the matter was settled cleanly,” Andy remarked, his tone admiring.
If Arabella hadn’t picked up on the clues, handling this incident could have been far more difficult.
“That sounds like her,” Matthew noted, a faint, almost imperceptible flicker of something akin to approval in his eyes.
“Mr. Stewart, should we intervene further?” Andy inquired.
“Unnecessary. I have confidence in her ability to manage it,” Matthew stated with assurance.
Andy nodded. “Understood. I’ll return to my duties.”
“Mm.”
After Andy left, Matthew leaned back in his chair. Arabella’s image surfaced unbidden in his mind.
Cool, even detached, yet radiating such potent self–assurance that it commanded attention, making one want to observe her almost involuntarily.
“Quite a formidable woman,” he murmured to himself softly, then caught the thought.
He’d actually gotten distracted thinking about her… and had even voiced praise.
His pupils contracting slightly, Matthew gathered his focus, steadied himself, and picked up the file beside him….
“Knock, knock, knock.”
Hearing the sound, Arabella looked up. “Come in.”
The door opened, and seeing Ethan walk in, Arabella offered a warm smile. “Ethan, what brings you back?”
“I heard there was an issue at the company and came straight over to check,” Ethan said, his expression carrying a hint of regret. “Of all times for me to be tied up elsewhere, it had to be now.”
Arabella gestured for Ethan to join her on the sofa. “It’s not your fault. I know you have your own portfolio to manage, if it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t be personally overseeing operations here at all.”
Ethan was a heavyweight in the venture capital world–known for his sharp eye and decisive moves.
“Ethan, the situation here is already handled. And don’t worry Chloe is monitoring everything closely. You really don’t need to be stationed here full–time,” Arabella urged “You know how capable Chloe is.”
After all, she was the executive assistant Ethan had personally selected for her–highly competent.
“She is undoubtedly capable,” Ethan agreed with a nod. “How was it resolved?”
