He didn’t have to worry about Matthew in any other respect–but when it came to matters of the heart, it was truly a headache…
Seeing Robert urging her to go see Matthew, a still–dazed Naomi rose to say goodbye. “I’ll take my leave now, Robert. Please rest well. I’ll visit again another day.”
“Okay.” Robert nodded with satisfaction.
Naomi and Ruby stepped out of the hospital room.
Once in the hall, Naomi held out her arm to Ruby. “Pinch me.”
Ruby obliged.
“Ouch!” Naomi immediately felt the sting on her forearm.
“So it’s not a dream, right?” Ruby said, looking at her with certainty.
“No, it’s real,” Naomi agreed softly.
“From what Robert just said, it sounds like he only learned afterward that Matthew went to your family to end the engagement. But he’s already reprimanded him for it. That means the understanding is still in place, and what Matthew did today doesn’t actually change anything.” Ruby frowned slightly, helping Naomi piece the situation together.
“So… are you going to go see Matthew now?” Ruby wanted to know what Naomi was thinking.
“You heard Robert. He already spoke to Matthew I think I should go,” Naomi said.
“Only… I’m a little scared to face him now. What should I do?” Naomi looked at Ruby with visible anxiety.
“Don’t be afraid. He won’t bite. Since he agreed to meet you, it shouldn’t be a problem,” Ruby reassured her.
“In my opinion, you should just go see him confidently. After all, you have Robert on your side. You don’t need to be afraid of Matthew.” Ruby could clearly see where Robert’s loyalty lay.
“Then come with me. Otherwise I’ll feel uneasy, Naomi pleaded, her expression helpless.
Ruby thought for a moment and nodded. “Alright, I’ll come along.”
“Let’s go.

Ruby opened the car door, started the engine, and drove Naomi away from the hospital.
“Naomi, should we go to Matthew’s office, or somewhere else?” Ruby asked.
Naomi checked the time. Matthew was likely still at work.
“Let’s go to his company,” she decided.
“Okay.”
Ruby steered the car toward Matthew’s company
Soon they arrived at the Horizon Building.
The sleek, towering structure stretched so high its top seemed to disappear into the clouds- an imposing symbol of power and wealth.
Looking up at it, Ruby couldn’t help feeling a twinge of envy. If Naomi married Matthew, she would one day be the lady of this empire.
“We’re here. Let’s go up,” Ruby said, reaching to open her door.
“Wait–let’s not go upstairs. The office is full of people. I’m worried Matthew won’t like the interruption, and it might affect his work,” Naomi said cautiously, stopping her.
“Let’s wait for him down here.” Naomi’s eyes settled on a nearby café.
“Robert already spoke to him on the phone. He knows we’re coming. It won’t be a disruption.” Ruby looked at Naomi, puzzled.
She couldn’t see how going up would be such a problem.
“I’d like a coffee. Let’s wait in the café,” Naomi said, gently pulling Ruby toward the entrance.
Understanding Naomi’s lingering apprehension, Ruby followed without further argument.
Inside the café, Ruby ordered two lattes.
Naomi took out her phone and typed a message to Matthew. “Matthew, I’m downstairs at your building. I’ll be waiting in the café. Come see me when you’re free.”
After sending it, she set her phone down.
Ruby took a sip of coffee and asked, “Did Matthew say when he’d come down?”
“No. He’s busy. We’re not in a rush. I’m sure he’ll come soon. Try the coffee here first,” Naomi replied, her tone making it clear she didn’t want to pressure him. The fact that he had agreed
