Sham Marriage Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 191 No Way Out
Fiona’s face drained of color, panic flashing across her eyes as she instinctively tried to refuse.
Finished
Alexander leaned back slightly in his chair, the faintest curve on his lips, his tone calm and measured. “Other than Ryan, you’re the one I trust most here. Ryan already booked your flight. You’ll head our tomorrow.”
Fiona froze, disbelief written all over her face.
This time, she completely lost her usual composure. She stepped forward, closing the distance between them, stopping right in front of his desk.
“Alexander,” she said, her voice tight, “I don’t want to go to Eldoria.”
Alexander’s gaze drifted lightly over her clenched fists before returning to the documents in front of him. His voice remained steady, almost gentle. “Weren’t you saying before that you wanted to take a trip to Eldoria? Just treat this like a vacation. The project over there isn’t busy, you’ll have more than enough time to relax.”
The tone sounded easygoing.
But there was something underneath it that made it clear this decision was final.
Fiona bit down on her lip, her voice softening, carrying a trace of helplessness. “I really don’t want to go…”
Alexander finally stopped what he was doing and looked up at her.
What he said next felt like it landed straight on her chest.
“Or would you rather stay here and go on blind dates?” Alexander said evenly. “My mom lined up a few for you. You didn’t like the last ones, so this time I personally looked them over. They’re all decent.”
Fiona felt the air leave her lungs.
She understood now.
There was no room left for negotiation.
She closed her eyes briefly, forcing back the tears that threatened to fall, a bitter smile pulling at her lips. “Is this because Elena doesn’t want me around you? Alexander, we’re just friends. She doesn’t need to target me like this.”
Alexander frowned, a trace of displeasure appearing between his brows.
He didn’t like hearing anything negative about Elena.
No matter who it came from.
“This is a work arrangement. It has nothing to do with her,” he said calmly.
He paused, then continued, his words precise and impossible to misinterpret. “And even if it did, she’s my

wife. She has every right to be involved in my decisions.”
And you don’t.
The implication hit harder than anything else he had said.
Fiona felt a dull ache spread through her chest.
Finished
She knew there was no turning this around. She lifted her hand, quickly wiping away the tears that hadn’t fully fallen yet.
“I understand,” Fiona said, her voice steadying with effort. “I’ll go to Eldoria tomorrow.”
Alexander nodded slightly. “I still have work to finish. Head home early, get some rest, and pack your things.”
Fiona turned and walked out. Before closing the office door, she couldn’t help but glance back.
Alexander had already lowered his head, fully focused on his work again, as if the conversation had never happened, not sparing her another look.
Her heart felt like it had been torn apart piece by piece.
She didn’t even have the energy to return to her desk. Her mind was completely blank as she walked
toward the elevators.
At the same time, Elena and Clement arrived at Pinnacle Group’s headquarters.
Alexander had specifically asked her to come in today to go over the follow–up strategy for Velmora Media, and he had emphasized that she needed to be there in person.
She had no real way to refuse.
Just
as she reached the elevator, the doors opened. She collided lightly with someone stepping out.
“Oh, sorry,” Elena said instinctively.
The other person’s phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor.
Elena bent down quickly, picked it up, and handed it back. Only then did she realize who she was looking
Fiona.
Her face looked pale, her eyes unfocused, like she hadn’t fully come back to herself. Only when she heard Elena’s voice did she seem to snap back slightly.
“You okay?” Elena asked, her tone natural, almost out of habit.
She didn’t like Fiona, but she wasn’t cruel. If Fiona collapsed right in front of her, she would still call for help without hesitation.
Fiona forced a smile, but it came out strained, almost sharp. “You must be really happy right now, huh?”

Elena blinked, confused.
Clement, standing beside her, also frowned slightly. Fiona had always been composed and professional in his impression, so this reaction felt completely out of character.
But Fiona didn’t explain.
She grabbed her phone from Elena’s hand and hurried past them, almost like she was trying to escape.
Elena watched her leave, puzzled for a moment, but didn’t dwell on it.
