Chapter 211 Drawn Lines
“Sir, that’s not what we meant, really, it’s not,” the officer said quickly.
Firhed
“That’s exactly what it sounded like. Maybe your chief is getting a little too comfortable in that position.” Walter replied.
“We wouldn’t dare. You’re taking it too far, sir.”
The officers forced awkward smiles, clearly under pressure.
Everyone knew Walter’s history.
He had served in major military operations before building the Kingsley empire from the ground up.
In Northbridge, and even across Westoria, his name carried weight.
Walter waved a hand dismissively. “Forget it. I’m not here to make your job harder. I only have one condition. That Hawthorne kid crossed the line. First with my granddaughter–in–law, then with my grandson. Go tell the Hawthorne family this, if they don’t want Nathan ending up like his father, they’d better come talk to me properly.”
His voice was steady, powerful, leaving no room for negotiation.
The officers were still unsure how to respond when Elena stepped out.
She had heard everything.
Seeing their strained expressions, she stepped in calmly. “You’ve heard our position. Just pass it along. Whether the Hawthorne family accepts it or not has nothing to do with you.”
Her tone was measured and composed. It immediately eased some of the pressure.
“Understood,” they said quickly, nodding,
Then they hurried off to Nathan’s room.
Nathan lay on the hospital bed, his face wrapped in gauze, barely recognizable.
Only his eyes were visible.
Victoria sat beside him, wiping her tears. “What is going on this year? Everything keeps going wrong. Dad, you have to get justice for him. Look what they did to Nathan.”
Charles, Evan and Daniel were there as well.
Charles’s face was dark, his grip tight on his cane.
Daniel glanced at him before speaking carefully. “Dad, the Kingsley family is powerful. Walter clearly favors Alexander. Going against them won’t end well for us.”
Victoria snapped before he could finish. “Easy for you to say. That’s not your son lying there. Of course you can stay calm. If anything, you’d probably love it if Alexander finished him off so your son could step in.

right?”
Her expression twisted with anger.
“That’s not what I meant. I’m thinking about what’s best for the family,” Daniel said.
“Oh please. If it weren’t for you and your son, would Nathan be like this?”
“How is that on me? Did I force him to get involved with Camille? Did I make him lie to Elena?”
“You-”
“Enough.”
Charles slammed his cane against the floor. “All of you, stop.”
The room fell silent.
Right then, the officers stepped in.
“This started as a personal dispute, and it didn’t escalate beyond control,” one of them said. “Mr. Kingsley and his wife are asking that you come over, apologize, and put this behind you. From what we understand, Walter expects the same.”
“His wife?” Victoria snapped, stepping forward. “Are you serious? He beat my son, and now you want us to apologize?”
The officer’s expression stiffened. “Mr. Kingsley did use force, but based on witness statements, Nathan initiated physical violence against a woman. Mr. Kingsley’s actions fall under defense of another person. That’s complete bullshit!”
