Declan spoke into the phone, his tone steady and professional. “Mrs. Kingsley was in a bit of danger carlier. The doctor said she has a minor scalp injury, and the shock triggered some stress related to the pregnancy. We’re at the hospital now. She’ll be waiting for him.”

Fiona paused briefly before asking, her voice calm, “Is Elena alright? And the baby?”

“No complications.”

“Alright.” Fiona said. “I’ll let Mr. Kingsley know. Talk soon.”

She hung up, the corners of her lips lifting ever so slightly.

“Someone call?”

Alexander’s voice came from the doorway as he walked back in, just in time to see Fiona holding his phone.

Fiona startled and quickly set it down. “Your bodyguard called. He gave an update on Elena. Nothing serious.”

Alexander frowned, clearly displeased. “Don’t answer my phone in the future.”

She added warmly, “You’ll make up soon enough. Tomorrow, we’ll have him call Alexander, and you can go back home. Staying apart too long isn’t good for a marriage.”
