Chapter 28 Stocking Up for the End of the World
Chapter 28 Stocking Up for the End of the World
Even abroad, the skies were gloomy with endless rain.
It really felt like a sign that the apocalypse was coming.
After buying the car, Caroline still had over six million left.
She planned to spend it all within the next few days.
That very day, the grains she had ordered earlier were delivered.

Caroline told others she was opening a supermarket, so besides the previous batch, she also bought a variety of coarse grains this time–mung beans, red beans, black rice, brown rice, and so on–adding up to two hundred tons.
Nutritious, filling, and good for adding variety to meals.
She had the grains sent to a factory she had rented, in a remote suburb. When no one was around, she and Raven moved everything into her space.
At the same time, Caroline placed an order for another round of vegetable and fruit tree seeds.
The ones she had bought earlier for testing weren’t enough.
She thought about the farmland inside her space. Even if the seeds grew into strange things, it was still better than wasting them.
Once the apocalypse arrived, she would have plenty of time to farm and study the space.
The entire day was spent storing everything away. She also went to the markets to stockpile fresh fruits and vegetables.
On top of that, she bought thousands of food containers so she could keep cooking and storing meals in the early days of the apocalypse.

After all, once power and water were cut off, food would be scarce. If someone cooked openly, it would only attract envy.
Caroline even bought two big pots, planning to cook corn overnight. That way, when the world collapsed, she could still enjoy sweet corn.
The day passed in this whirlwind of preparation.
Yet, that night, she suddenly got a call from Niko. He said he would be bringing a friend over the next morning to check in on
Raven.
The moment she heard that, Caroline tensed. How was she supposed to explain Raven’s vanished scars?
Still, there was no avoiding it.
Early the next morning, Niko showed up as promised, with another soldier from the unit.
Caroline had seen him before–back when she first adopted Raven, he had been watching closely the whole time. She could tell he had a special bond with the dog.
The two of them brought along snacks they knew Raven liked.
The moment Raven saw them, it wagged its tail furiously, showing a rare bit of friendliness.
Niko was stunned. “Wow? I didn’t expect Raven to be this affectionate now. He’s grown tool”
And it was true. Raven had gotten bigger.
Since learning it needed more nutrition, Caroline had been feeding it well, and it had grown rapidly over the past few days
Sitting down now, it was nearly level with her chin

She even had a hunch that after the bath yesterday, its growth would only speed up further.
All of this would make it even stronger once it mutated.
When that time came, Raven would surely be one of the fiercest among mutant dogs.
“Wait, what happened to the scar on Raven’s back?”
The other soldier, introduced as Haroldson, was the one who spoke.
He pointed at Raven’s back in surprise.
