If Caroline just let her storage space absorb the purple sapphire pendant, it would definitely level up faster.

But Caroline hesitated. This pendant carried the power of its own storage space. Maybe she could use it for something else.

In her previous life, she had seen other people’s storage artifacts. Every time one appeared, it caused a frenzy. People would fight for it, trade it for unimaginable wealth, or use it to build powerful connections.

Thinking about that, Caroline decided to keep the pendant for now. She could always decide later whether to feed it to her storage

space.

She walked around the market for a long time but didn’t find anything that made the gemstone on her chest react again.

Caroline circled the entire trading area, yet the gemstone stayed completely silent.

She started to worry. Maybe her gemstone was mad at her for not feeding that pendant to it earlier?

Just when she began doubting herself, the space gemstone suddenly started to vibrate again!

She looked around and realized she had wandered into the stone–gambling section of the market.

This time, the space gemstone was reacting to a huge stone next to her, nearly as tall as she was!

Caroline’s lips twitched. Seriously? How am I supposed to carry that thing home?

“Hey, young lady, you got your eye on the Crown Jewel?”

A middle–aged man noticed her staring and walked over.

Before she could answer, a younger man at the next booth laughed out loud. “Crown Jewel? More like King of Trash! That rock’s been sitting here for three years. Everyone who looked at it said there’s no gemstone inside. Don’t scam the poor girl.”

The middle–aged man raised his hand like he was about to hit the young guy, his face twisted with anger. “Quit ruining my business!” he shouted.

The young man didn’t back down at all. “That rock’s been sitting here for three years!” he snapped. “Dozens of people have checked it, and everyone said there’s nothing inside. So what are you still bragging about?“,

He kept running his mouth and even turned to Caroline with a grin. “Miss, if you’re looking to buy a raw stone, come take a look at mine. That guy’s not honest. His rock might look big, but it’s empty inside.”

Caroline’s eyes moved slightly. Pretending to be a clueless rookie, she walked over to the young man with a puzzled look. “I’m just here for fun,” she said. “That big rock just looked kind of cool. Do you really have ones that contain gemstones? I want to find one myself and maybe make a bracelet out of it.”

The middle–aged man and the younger guy clearly didn’t get along. The older man stomped his foot and yelled, “Marsh, don’t think I won’t punch you! You keep stealing my customers every single day!”

After shouting at the one named Marsh Davison, the man turned to Caroline with a brilliant smile. “Miss, let me tell you. The stone you’re looking at is the crown jewel of my store!”

When Caroline heard the words “crown jewel,” she almost rolled her eyes.

She ignored the older vendor. If that piece had been sitting there for days with no buyer, she clearly could have waited it out.

Caroline really liked that stone, but she wasn’t going to let herself get ripped off.

Caroline followed Marsh around the shop, pretending to browse. After turning down all his sales talk, she went back to the older vendor. “I really like your stone,” she said. “Guess you could say it caught my eye. How about selling it to me?”

In the end, Caroline bought the massive emerald rough for 1,200,000 dollars.

The stone had been cut in several spots before, but no green color showed inside, only a bit of cloudy white.

Because of this, the price wasn’t high.

Most people thought it looked impressive but wasn’t worth much–probably no real gemstone hidden inside.

When the vendor offered to cut the stone open on the spot, Caroline refused. Instead, she asked them to deliver it to a small warehouse she had rented in advance.
