The three men suddenly saw a huge, chubby bird burst out of the house.

The oversized bird flapped once and landed on the nearby windowsill. He lifted his head high, spread his wings wide, and stared down at them with pure arrogance. In an extremely rough, booming voice, he roared a long stream of curses.

The sound was so loud it felt like it drilled straight into their ears. It completely drowned out anything the three men tried to say.

Inside the base, people who lived nearby were jolted awake.

Life in the apocalypse had trained them well. Many jumped straight out of bed without thinking. Some even grabbed their weapons and scanned the area, alert and ready.

When they realized it was just someone yelling curses at the top of their lungs, a few quickly covered their children’s ears.

Others froze for half a minute; someone else cursed and burst into praises.

No one complained about being woken up. They were having too much fun listening.

Finally, Caroline decided it was enough. She walked over and gently patted Jet on the head. “That’s enough.”

Jet cleared his throat, flapped his wings, and flew onto Raven’s head.

His round belly and straight posture looked a little funny, but his attitude was flawless
