When he reached the door, he paused. He guessed it at once; it probably wasn’t Denton.

He opened the door on purpose, acting calm. Inside, though, he was a nervous wreck.

Tyler kept a cool face, but he subtly adjusted his posture. He wanted to look his best for Caroline.

“And Nelson saw Shane disappear with his own eyes,” Caroline said. “Before he vanished, Shane seemed like a different person. He clearly mentioned sandstorms and cyan energy.”

She shared everything she learned from Nelson with Tyler.

Their discussion was quick and efficient. Soon, they reached a conclusion. This sandstorm was very likely linked to some kind of mutated creature. That creature, Shane, and cyan energy were probably all connected to a very powerful ability user.

That was the best conclusion they could reach with the information they had.

Caroline was puzzled. Haroldson had drunk the spring water, yet he still hadn’t woken up. She wondered just how badly he had been hurt.

What Caroline didn’t know was that Haroldson’s main problem wasn’t his injuries. It was exhaustion.
