Chapter 647 Francis’s Idea
Francis was really overdoing it. He wrapped both hands around the goose’s head to flex his triceps.
When he kicked at its neck, he puffed out his chest so his muscles would pop.
When he walked toward the goose, he looked full of swagger, tightening his abs so his six–pack twitched a bit.
But because of all the thick dust and sand, nobody could see a thing.
Caroline and Kay didn’t even look his way.
“Keep up!” Caroline shouted toward Francis. “Stop dragging your feet, or you’ll fall behind!”

Poor Francis. He stared at the goose for a moment, then stomped his foot in anger and grabbed the goose’s head. He threw it with all his strength, sending it flying far away, along with all his frustration and sadness.
Gotta catch up with the team. Mission first. Forget the goose meat for now, Francis thought.
Inside Caroline’s storage space, Shane was barely clinging to life, but he was already recovering. He felt like he was in a place where he could soak up energy; it felt amazing.
The weirdest part? When he opened his eyes, he saw a cupcake! And Nelson.
Nelson was sitting there eating a cupcake, looking at Shane with disgust.
Nelson said, “How did Caroline let you in here? You’re ruining the space. Look at all that blood on the grass.
“Recover already. Stop bleeding, idiot!” Nelson snapped.
He sounded like a big boss yelling at a little kid.
But Shane suddenly smiled. This has to be heaven.
Moving forward in the sandstorm wasn’t easy.
Still, Caroline and the other two pushed forward fast.
They weren’t walking. All three of them were now on their mounts,
Caroline was riding Raven. Kay borrowed Snow from Tyler.
And Francis was riding Denton’s Biscuit.
Biscuit held his head high and wasn’t scared of the sandstorm.
He hadn’t carried Denton in a long time and had been resting in the storage space.
Ever since his last mutation, Biscuit had gotten smarter. He even had dreams now. He wanted to be a proper–no, an excellent-
mount.
So he was taking this mission very seriously.

Even though Denton stayed behind with Tyler to fix the base, and the one he carried was an older, heavier, creepy guy who loved showing off his muscles, Biscuit didn’t complain.
In his mind, a good mount shouldn’t be picky about his rider.
The mission came first.
So he moved calmly through the sandstorm–steady, confident, and proud.
Nathaniel originally wanted to send a bigger team, more than just three people, at the very least.
But Caroline told him, “Commander Ball, if the three of us can’t make it back or kill that thing, then sending more people won’t
help anyway.”
With their level of strength, numbers didn’t matter anymore. Too many people would just slow them down.
They kept moving forward, following the direction found by the drones.
In the sandstorm, Caroline felt her sense of direction getting messed up. The compass they brought was useless, too.
But they still had something clearer to guide them–the markers left behind by the soldiers.
Francis said they had sent out 20 soldiers before, split into four teams, searching in different directions using standard search.
They left a mark every five yards.
