Chapter 21
Inside the pouch was a map, a procurement list, and a inventory expansion card.
The inventory expansion card could add 50 extra slots to the inventory.

Andrea’s original game inventory had only 15 slots, and those were mostly used for bulky materials that didn’t fit well in her money pouch, along with a few frequently used items.
Everything else had been stored in the pouch.
If it weren’t for the pouch, her inventory would’ve run out of space a long time ago.
She had been worrying about where to find a inventory expansion item, so Andrea never expected to luck into one in this dungeon.
Andrea used the expansion card immediately. Now her inventory had 65 slots, and it instantly felt rich and spacious.
She moved the big items like the freezer units and refrigerated cases out of the pouch and into the inventory.
Finally, the pouch didn’t feel nearly as cramped.
Andrea also unexpectedly discovered that freezer units from different brands and models, as long as they were roughly the same size, could stack into the same inventory slot under the single category of freezer.
Now, I no longer have to worry about picking up bulky items, she thought.
Map in hand, Andrea quickly headed out.
First, she needed to finish the procurement task. After that, she could go explore outside.
As she walked, Andrea pulled out a ravioli and stuffed it into her mouth.
She hadn’t prepared lunch for herself, and by now she was starving.
Following the directions on the map, Andrea made her way down the street and into a dark alley.
She drew her long knife and kept moving deeper in, staying alert.
She walked all the way to the marked destination, and luckily nothing unexpected happened.
in front of her was a wall. Looking down, Andrea saw a little wooden door only about a foot and a half high.
A wooden sign hung above it: Knock if you want to buy something.
Andrea lifted her hand, then suddenly remembered something.
She pulled out the little golden horn from her space and clipped it to her waist beside the pouch she had just received.
All the beasts in the building have been wearing these tokens. Maybe it’ll actually do something useful, Andrea thought.
She knocked on the wooden door. After waiting about a minute, it creaked open.
Then a rat just a little shorter than the door itself walked out, yawning.

It was the first time Andrea had ever seen such a huge rat, and she almost couldn’t stop herself from kicking it on instinct
She forced down the discomfort and stayed still.
The giant rat reached into the fur on its belly, pulled out a monocle, and put it on.
Its lazy eyes drifted over Andrea’s waist, then instantly sharpened. It asked, “Boss, what can I get for you?”
Andrea raised a brow. ‘So the little horn really is some kind of status symbol.
She put on a mysterious expression, pulled out the procurement list, flipped through a few pages, and asked, “Anything new going on in the city lately?”
The rat immediately stood up straight. It hesitated before saying, “Boss… does this count toward the evaluation?”
She wondered, ‘Evaluation? Do monsters seriously have performance reviews too?”
Andrea had no clue what kind of evaluation it meant, but she simply gave a calm nod.
The rat immediately spilled everything it knew in one breath.
Recently, a new underground tunnel had appeared in the city. They had sent out the ten best digging rats, and the tunnel walls were smooth as glass.
This time, the players‘ inventories had been unusually tough. It had worn down its teeth chewing through a few hundred of them, and now it even had to spend gold coins getting dental work.
Hearing that, Andrea instinctively touched her back and realized she had already put her inventory away. Only then did she relax.
Seeing the rat struggle to think of anything else, Andrea directly signed it a huge order and scribbled Orion across it in wild handwriting.
The rat grinned so hard its mouth practically split open.
After thinking for a moment, it leaned closer and whispered mysteriously, “Recently, the two fastest rats got hired away somewhere. No clue what for.”
With the task complete, the rat promised the supplies would be delivered before dark.
Andrea pieced together a few vague clues. A tunnel underground. Two fastest rats.
Could it be some kind of race?‘ she wondered.
Still thinking it over, Andrea headed toward the other side of the city.
After walking for about half a mile, she passed the mouth of another alley.
There, she saw a short–haired woman casually twisting the neck off a mutant wolf with a completely relaxed expression.
The woman stuffed the mutant wolf into her inventory, then seemed to notice Andrea’s stare and turned her head to look
over.
The two locked eyes for nearly a full minute.
Andrea had a very strong feeling. This person was not someone to mess with.

sticking to her usual habit of avoiding trouble unless necessary, Andrea prepared to leave as quickly as possible.
I was already three o’clock, and she had to be back to cook in another two hours.
But the moment Andrea turned around, the short–haired woman called out behind her, “Hey! Don’t go!”
Looks like there’s no easy way out of this, she thought.

Vithout drawing attention, Andrea’s left hand quietly rested on the sleeve dart launcher strapped to her right wrist.
But the woman’s next sentence left her momentarily dazed. She said, “Hey, girl, wanna team up? You look like a decent
›erson too.”
Why does the way this woman talks sound so familiar?‘ Andrea wondered.
she thought about it for a few seconds, then agreed. The dungeon encourages players to team up anyway.
One of the rules says treasure chest rewards will increase when opened in a party.
Besides, this woman’s combat strength looks anything but ordinary. She may turn out to be a valuable ally!
The two of them clicked instantly and got ready to add each other as friends, exchanging names.
Gwen: “Gwen Spencer.”
Andrea: “Andrea Rowland.”
Gwen froze for a second, then her face lit up with delight. “Girl, it’s you.”
What a coincidence,” Andrea said with a smile.
The two of them both had their own plans, so they didn’t keep chatting.
After forming the team, they split up. The party interface let them see each other’s health bars and direction.
Andrea deliberately chose the opposite direction from Gwen so their search areas wouldn’t overlap..
She entered a run–down building first.
The walls were covered in peeling paint, and the floor was littered with bare bones everywhere, impossible to tell what kind of creature they had once belonged to.
Andrea picked one up to see if it could be submitted as trash for the task, but the system showed submission failed.
