Chapter 5
I turned to Grayson’s dad.
His face was twisted with rage, veins bulging. “You fucking bastard! How could you do this?!”
“I’m telling you right now-over my dead body is she ever coming into this family!”
Grayson shoved me aside and wrapped the blanket tight around the woman.
I stumbled back, my lower back slamming into the edge of the dresser. Pain shot through me, black spots in my vision.
But I forced myself to look up at him, tears everywhere. “You’d seriously hurt me… for her?”
My voice broke. I could barely get the words out.
“If she’s the one you want, why didn’t you just marry her?”
I stopped for a second, then went for it. “Or is fucking your wife’s sister just that much better?”
Grayson went white. He threw on his clothes and rushed over to cover my mouth.
He knew better than anyone-if he didn’t explain this right now, it wasn’t just his rep on the line. It was hers too.
He rubbed his temples, voice tight. “Sloane, listen to me. Just listen, okay?”
“Somebody set this whole thing up. They drugged us or something, then locked us in here.”
“I love you. You really think I’d do this to you?”
My heart sank.
Did he figure out I spiked the orange juice?
Then why didn’t he call me out in front of everyone?
I buried my panic and pushed back. “Oh yeah? You got drugged? Then where’s your proof?”
His eyes went wide-total panic. He just stood there, couldn’t say shit.
So he pulled me into this hug, like that was gonna make me forget. “Sloane, just trust me… I’ll find out what really went down and fix this.”
By that point, Piper had her clothes back on and got down on her knees in front of me.
“Sloane, someone planned this whole thing…”
“I’ve always let you have whatever you wanted growing up. Why would I go after your husband?”
Grayson’s dad came over and tried dragging me out. “Alright, we talked about it. Let’s just go home now.”
I ripped my arm away and smacked Piper across the face. Twice.
“YOU let ME have everything?”

“Who tore up my shit? Pushed me down the stairs? Tried to drown me? Put poison in my food?”
“I got receipts for all of it. We can take this to court right fucking now.”
“And just so we’re clear-your mom fucked her way into this family and made the first wife kill herself. So no surprise you turned into a homewrecker too.”
Piper was sobbing like she was about to pass out.
Suddenly, Grayson grabbed my jaw and slapped me. Twice.
“Enough!”
“Piper’s the victim here, and you’re trying to destroy her?”
“I’m starting to think YOU fucking set this up!”
Yeah. I did.
But good luck proving it, asshole.
I just looked at him and started laughing. Like, full-on hysterical.
Bitter as hell. Shaking.
“Grayson, you just hit your wife…”
“…to defend your mistress.”
“And you’re seriously still gonna say someone set you up?”
“Do you actually believe that shit?”
The whole room lost it.
Whispers turned into straight-up attacks:
“He acts so in love, but the whole time he’s been screwing the sister…”
“This is the nastiest shit I’ve ever seen.”
Grayson’s dad’s face went white. He barked at the manager to clear everyone out.
But I wasn’t done.
“Wait.”
I yanked the divorce papers outta my bag and threw them right in his face.
“Sign it.”
“I’m done. You two can go to hell together.”
His face shattered.
He could cover up the scandal. But he had no way to stop me from divorcing him.

And what I said next? That fucking ended him.
“This time? I don’t give a shit if you jump off a building, slice your wrists open, whatever.”
“I’m not coming back.”
“So either sign this shit now, or I’ll drag your ass to court.”
I stopped. Looked him dead in the eye.
“Oh-and just so you know.”
“Everything you got? All your shit? It’s mine. Got transferred when we got married.”
“And that fake debt you tried to stick me with? Yeah, I got receipts. All notarized.”
“You sign now? You walk away with thirty percent.”
“You wanna fight me? You get nothing. Zero.”
He just stared.
His face went from broken to… cold. Like he was doing math in his head.
Dead silence.
Then he smiled.
“Sloane. Fine. We’ll divorce.”
“But-”
“You really think you’re gonna walk outta this?”
