This was completely different from the haggard, sickly Mia in his memory, but those eyes, that profile-there was no mistake.

Dominic’s heart began beating frantically, blood rushing to his head instantly.

Almost instinctively, he rushed over, his throat tight, thousands of words stuck in his chest, finally becoming just a trembling call:

“Mia…”

Mia’s body visibly stiffened. She slowly turned around, and after seeing who it was, the color drained from her face instantly. A flash of surprise crossed her eyes, then she regained her composure, looking at him like a stranger.

He frantically pulled out the wedding ring he had been carrying with him from his pocket and knelt on one knee:

“Mia, I was wrong. I was deceived by Letty. After you disappeared, I learned the truth. Please forgive me-come home with me, okay?”

His voice carried pleading, his eyes reddening. A year’s worth of longing and guilt poured out in this moment.
