Chapter 1
On my wedding day, my fiancé brought eight ex-girlfriends to block my bridal suite door.
“Listen up, sweetheart. We’re your predecessors here.”
“Bow down and show some damn respect, or you’re not getting past this door!”
Wrong move.
I slapped every single one. Hard.
When it came to my stepsister’s turn, Cain stepped in front of her:
“The others can fuck off, but I promised Luna she’d be part of my wedding.”
“Oh really? Then you can both fuck off together!”
Without hesitation, I cracked their skulls open with a champagne bottle. Twenty-five stitches each.
That same day, Cain conspired with my father to ship me off overseas for three years to “learn my place.”
The day I flew back, he was waiting at the airport:
“Now that you’ve learned your lesson, we can move forward with our engagement.”
My stepsister clung to his arm, eyes red-rimmed with fake tears:
“After what Vera did to me-blinding me like that-Cain has been my eyes for three whole years. But don’t worry, I’ve already said yes to someone else’s proposal. We’re getting married next week.”
I glanced down at their intertwined fingers and laughed:
“No problem.”
Blind, huh? Should’ve taken your tongue too while I was at it.
This time, I’m coming for your lives!

This time, I’m coming for your lives.
Luna traced Cain’s jawline with trembling fingers, tears streaming:
“Cain, thank you for these three years. I know my fiancé has… anger issues and likes to keep me locked up, but after what I did, I deserve it.”
“I probably won’t see you again after this, so let me just memorize every detail of your face.”
She casually rolled up her sleeve, revealing dark bruises on her forearm.
Drugstore concealer and eyeshadow with shimmer. So cringe.
But Cain completely lost it, grabbing her wrist:
“What the actual fuck? That bastard put his hands on you? Luna, give me his name right now and I’ll destroy him!”
“Please don’t ask… I won’t tell you anyway. Consider this my punishment for keeping you and Vera apart.”
Luna tried to pull away, milking it for all it’s worth.
“Like hell I’m letting you marry that psycho!”
“Vera, look what you did to her-she’s blind because of you! She’ll die if she goes through with this marriage. I’ll marry you, fine, but I’m protecting Luna for the rest of my life!”
Cain pulled her against his chest, voice steel-hard.
Just like before, when he swore up and down that Luna had to be part of every milestone in his life.
“Family comes first. Do whatever makes you happy.”
“See, Vera? I knew you’d matured. You’re finally being reasonable.”

Watching him carry Luna to his Bentley like she was made of glass, I felt nothing but cold amusement.
One fake bruise and Cain was ready to commit murder.
Meanwhile, my arms were covered in real scars and cigarette burns that he pretended didn’t exist.
Whatever.
I stopped needing validation from men a long time ago.
When I got back to the mansion Mom left me as a wedding gift, the whole place had been transformed.
The garden where Mom and I planted white roses together was gone, replaced with massive lavender beds-and I’m deathly allergic to lavender.
Even the household staff were completely different people.
They ignored me like I was invisible, but the second they saw Luna:
“Mrs. Sterling, welcome home!”
The familiarity in their voices said everything.
This had been going on for years.
Cain had been playing house with her in my own damn home.
Hearing that title made me burst out laughing.
Luna went white as a sheet, stumbling backward:
“Vera! I never meant to take over your home. Cain said it was easier to care for me here. I totally forgot about your allergy… God, I’m so sorry. I’ll have them rip out every plant and move back to Dad’s tonight.”
She started feeling around blindly, nearly tripping over the stone border.
Cain swooped in to catch her:
“Luna, stop. This isn’t your fault. The doctor specifically said lavender aromatherapy could help restore your vision. Vera can just pop some Benadryl.”
He turned to me with that patronizing tone:
“Vera, your dad and mother are getting up there in age. They can’t give Luna the care she needs. She’s not bothering anyone here, and you’re sisters. Just be the bigger person, okay?”
Old Cain never would’ve dared call my stepmother “your mother” to my face.
He used to be nobody-just the gardener’s son from our estate who got lucky when Mom took pity on him.
I still remember his pathetic attempts to make me jealous, parading different women around as his “girlfriends.”
Never thought he’d actually fall for one of them. Especially not Luna.
Both Luna and her precious lavender stayed put.
Within hours, I broke out in hives. Red, angry welts everywhere, itching like fire.
While hunting for Benadryl downstairs, I overheard Cain talking business in his study.

Chapter 1
“Mr. Sterling, your father in law only wanted Miss Blackwood at some basic reform school overseas. Why’d you specifically request that hardcore facility and tell them to break her properly’ for three years?”
“Luna almost got her face destroyed because of Vera. How else was I supposed to make that right? Vera’s always acted like she owns the world because she’s daddy’s legitimate princess. She doesn’t even respect me. The only way she’d learn was through real consequences.”
“I promised I’d marry her, sure, but I wasn’t giving up Luna. Now I’ve had my three years of freedom with the woman I actually love, and Vera’s finally learned to behave. Win-win!”
Before his assistant could leave, I slipped back upstairs.
The pills tasted bitter as hell going down.
In the dim light, the scars covering my body looked like black snakes crawling under my skin.
Every time those psychos branded me with red-hot metal, leaving charred flesh in their wake, they’d laugh:
“Don’t hold your breath waiting for Mr. Sterling to save you, sweetheart. You’re worth less than his dog to him.”
Turns out they weren’t lying.
Too bad I was not gentle when I poured that acid down their throats.
My phone buzzed. I answered.
“Everything’s set on our end, boss. I’ll bring the crew tomorrow night.”
“Perfect. Once I get what I need from the safe, we execute.”
For three years, Cain never once checked if I was alive or dead.
While he was busy playing perfect boyfriend with Luna, every single one of those sick fucks he paid to torture me had become living nightmares themselves.
And that “rehabilitation center”? It had new management now.
My management.
Every bit of pain and humiliation they put me through was about to be repaid in blood!
