Chapter 7
Harper held her face, staring at me in shock. “You… you hit me?”
“Hit you?” I laughed coldly. “Harper, that slap was for my mom.”
Then I backhanded her with the other hand.
“And that one’s for the eight years you stole from me.”
Garrett finally snapped out of it. He pushed me away, pulled Harper into his arms. Then yelled at me: “Sloane! What the fuck is wrong with
you?!”
“What’s wrong with me?” I looked at him. Eyes ice cold. “Garrett, I lost my mind a long time ago. When my mom was lying in that hospital bed and I was hauling bricks on construction sites to pay her bills? Yeah. I lost it then.”
My team and the other workers crowded around, staring and whispering.
Harper was crying in Garrett’s arms, total damsel in distress. “Garrett… she… she’s bullying me… she’s just jealous…”
“Jealous of you?” I laughed like I’d just heard the funniest joke ever.
“Harper, what the fuck do you have that I’d be jealous of? That you’re a homewrecker? That you stole someone’s boyfriend?”
“You’re lying!” She screamed.
“Lying?” I walked over to the control panel, grabbed the mic, looked up at the massive projection screen in the ballroom.
“Everyone, sorry to interrupt. Just need a few minutes. Want to show you all something interesting.”
I connected my phone to the projector. Pulled up that post I’d saved.
Harper’s smug face and all those disgusting words suddenly blown up huge on that screen.
[stole my bestie’s bf lol. easy.]
[how to make him dump her: just keep saying shit like “omg she’s so dramatic” “why is she always mad” etc etc. he’ll start believing it. trust me.]
[changed her college app info. she ended up in the middle of nowhere. hasn’t done shit since Imaooo ?]
Line after line, Paragraph after paragraph. Like a public execution.
The whole ballroom went dead silent.
Everyone’s eyes locked on Harper’s chalk-white face.
Garrett’s body went rigid too,
He stared at the screen in disbelief, then looked at Harper in his arms. His eyes filled with shock and… disgust.
“Harper… what… what is this?”
Harper panicked. She started babbling: “No… no, it’s not… Garrett, listen to me, this is fake! It’s photoshopped! Sloane’s framing me!”

Wait… Why Did Everyone I Love Suddenly Call Me a Bitch?!
“Framing you?” I held up my phone, screen facing her. “It’s your account. Your profile pic. Even the IP address matches your dorm at Columbia. Harper, how are you going to lie your way out of this?”
The truth ripped open right there. In the most brutal, most public way possible.
I looked at these two people, watched their worlds crumble, and felt nothing.
No satisfaction from revenge.
Just this empty, barren calm.
Finally, everything was over.
What I didn’t expect?
Some worker at the venue who loved making TikToks had livestreamed the whole thing.
By the time I woke up the next day, these hashtags had blown up everywhere:
#Wedding Drama Explosion
#Homewrecker Exposes Herself
#Ungrateful Bastard Forgets
The video showed everything-
Me calmly laying out the facts, Harper hysterically making excuses, Garrett’s shocked expression-millions of people saw it all crystal clear.
The internet lost its mind.
People dug up Harper’s post and tore apart every detail of her past. All her “greatest hits” got exposed one by one.
And Garrett, as the male lead in this mess, got dragged even harder.
The story of my family taking him in, my mom’s accident caused indirectly by their bullshit-neighbors and old classmates spilled everything.
[holy SHIT this guy is actual human garbage]
[wait so he ate their food for YEARS, they paid for everything, and then he just… left?? when the mom got hurt??? what the FUCK]
[bro literally used this family as a stepping stone and dipped the second he got what he wanted. disgusting]
18 years. EIGHT YEARS she was stuck working herself to death while he was living his best life. i’m gonna be sick]
[this man is a PARTNER at a company?? how did HR not catch this?? do they not google people anymore???]
[nah this is some next level sociopath shit]
The internet is terrifying,
Within days, Garrett’s company released a statement. Suspended him from all duties pending investigation.
He was done.
In today’s world where companies care about image and values, nobody can keep a partner with that kind of moral stain.

Wait… Why Did Everyone I Love Suddenly Call Me a Bitch?!
And Harper had it even worse. Became a total pariah.
Her phone got blown up with calls and texts. People camped outside her apartment. She lost her job.
Heard her mental state completely deteriorated. Ended up hospitalized.
I watched all the news on my phone calmly. Then closed the apps and went back to drawing.
Few days later, I got a call from an unknown number.
Garrett.
His voice sounded exhausted and hoarse. “Sloane, can we meet? Just once?”
I was quiet for a moment. Then said: “Fine.”
Some debts needed to be settled face to face.
