Wait…Why Did Everyone I Love Suddenly Call Me a Bitch?! novel Chapter 67

Chapter 8

We met at a coffee shop.

Few days apart, he looked like he’d aged a decade.

Sunken eyes, stubble all over, nothing left of that confident energy he used to have.

He sat across from me. Didn’t speak for a long time.

Finally, I broke the silence. “What do you want?”

He looked up. Eyes bloodshot. “Sloane, I’m sorry.”

Three words. Eight years late.

I didn’t respond. Just watched him quietly.

“I saw that post and-fuck, Sloane-she planned everything. All of it.” He closed his eyes. His voice cracked. “I was so stupid. How did I believe her? How did I treat you like that?”

“Does it matter now?”

“It does!” He practically lunged forward. “Sloane, I know I fucked up. I know. Just give me one more chance. We can start over. I’ll spend the rest of my life making this right. I’ll make it right with your mom, I swear-”

I looked at him and started laughing. Couldn’t help it.

“Start over? Are you fucking serious right now?”

“You believed her. You said all that shit to me. My college apps got fucked and you did nothing-nothing. My mom was in that hospital for eight years and you didn’t call once. Not once. We were done the second you picked her. That was it.”

“You’re only here because your life fell apart. Because you finally figured out you fucked up. So now you want me back? Like I’m just supposed to be sitting here waiting?”

“That’s not-” He tried to argue.

“That’s exactly what this is.” I cut him off. “Garrett, save your cheap apologies. You don’t love me. You love the version of yourself that got to enjoy everything guilt-free.”

My words stripped away every layer of his pretense.

He slumped back in his chair. Face like death.

“Then… what can I do for you?” He mumbled,

I looked at him. Then said calmly: “You want to make amends? Fine. I need money.”

He froze.

I continued: “My mom needs better treatment. I want to take her abroad. I need money, A lot of it. You destroyed my life. So paying for what

comes next? That’s what you owe me,”

He stared at me. Expression complicated.

Maybe he didn’t expect me to be this direct about money.

Thought I’d want his love. His remorse.

He was wrong.

I didn’t want any of that. Just wanted what was actually useful.

After a long silence, he nodded, voice strained: “Okay. How much do you need?”

“Half your company equity.”

His head snapped up. Looked at me in shock.

I met his gaze.

“You owe me, Garrett. You owe my mom. You used us to get where you are. So yeah, you’re gonna pay for that.”
