Brooklyn’s face freezes mid-crazy. She’s staring at Blake like she can’t process what he just said.

Blake doesn’t look at her. He walks straight to my parents and bows his head.

“Sir, ma’am, I’m so sorry. This mess started because of me, and now I’ve ruined your celebration.”

My parents are still in shock.

Blake pulls out his phone and shows everyone a payment screenshot.

“I sent Mira money three days ago to pick out a watch for Uncle David. I had to fly out for work and couldn’t shop myself.”

His voice carries across the whole restaurant.

“Mira knows her father’s taste better than anyone. That’s why I trusted her to pick something he’d love. The transfer note even says ‘for Uncle

David’s watch.””

There it is. Proof.

The screenshot shows everything-the amount, the date, the note that says [For Uncle David’s watch-thanks for helping!]

Truth is that simple.

He’d asked me, his girlfriend’s friend who happens to be the daughter, to help pick the perfect gift for my own dad because he was traveling.

Everyone starts whispering, looking at Brooklyn like she’s lost her mind.

Brooklyn’s shaking now. Reality’s hitting her but she still won’t accept it.

She points at Blake, then at me, her voice cracking: “You’re LYING! Both of you planned this! Blake, you’d make up stories to protect this bitch!”

She’s completely gone.

“You can’t fool me! I know what I-”

Mom steps forward and smacks Brooklyn across the face.

“GET OUT!” Mom’s shaking with rage. “We don’t want toxic trash like you in our family! Don’t you EVER let me see your face again!”

Dad’s pointing at the door, his voice trembling: “Leave! NOW!”

The friends who trashed me in the group chat are staring at their shoes, trying to disappear,

Funny how quickly people change when the truth comes out,

Brooklyn covers her face, still trying to grab Blake’s arm.
