Watch a Billionaire Shatter for the Woman He Betrayed novel Chapter 1

"You've been married for two years, and we've slept together six hundred and sixty-six times. Preston, do you think your wife knows?"

A sickly sweet voice drifted through the crack in the door.

Leilani Sandoval stood frozen. Her blood ran cold.

She had come to Preston Watkins's office in high spirits, eager to tell him that she had regained her hearing.

Instead, she was greeted by the undeniable proof of his infidelity. And the other woman was none other than his stepsister. The very culprit who had left her brother in a vegetative state—Sienna Monroe!

Leilani lowered her gaze.

So, this was what it felt like to hear again. It was heartbreaking.

From inside the room, the relentless, rhythmic sounds continued without pause.

Sienna's voice wavered. "Preston, you've been married to her for two years, yet you still come to me every night. Why don't you just make do with her for once?"

Then came a voice Leilani hadn't heard clearly in years. It had shed its childhood innocence, replaced by a deep, magnetic timbre. "She's dirty."

Sienna let out a flirtatious laugh. "That's right. She was married to that old man before. She's probably all worn out by now."

Leilani clenched her fists so hard her knuckles turned white.

The cold metal of her wedding ring seemed to freeze her down to the bone.

Dirty?

Preston was calling her dirty.

Leilani's lips parted in a soundless, bitter laugh.

She had sold herself for five million dollars—money that had served as Preston's startup capital.

Her hand slid weakly off the doorknob.

With trembling fingers, Leilani pulled out her phone, opened the camera, and slipped the lens through the crack in the door...

She recorded the damning evidence of Preston's affair.

Stumbling back a couple of steps, she turned and walked away without looking back.

In the cab ride home, Leilani's phone vibrated.

She took it out, glanced at the screen, and took a deep breath, fighting back the lump forming in her throat. She answered, "Mom."

Rosemary demanded, "You have your hearing aids in, right? Is Preston with you? Ask him when the phase-two funding he promised Mr. Myers is coming through. His entire company is waiting on that cash flow to stay afloat."

Leilani fell silent.

Rosemary continued her interrogation. "Have you even visited your brother at the hospital lately? The rent for Austin's life-support systems is due again. Make sure Preston pays it. If those machines stop for even a minute, your brother's life is in danger."

Leilani closed her eyes.

Austin had been in a coma for two years. The only reason he was still alive was that Preston had spent a fortune renting exclusive, patented life-support equipment from a cutting-edge overseas biotech lab. The annual lease was ten million dollars.

Perhaps agitated by Leilani's prolonged silence, Rosemary raised her voice. "One more thing. I was out shopping with some of the ladies the other day, and one of them told me she saw Preston out with some tramp."

-

Leilani sat alone in the living room until two in the morning.

Preston finally walked through the door.

Surprised to see her sitting in the dim light, he walked over and signed: *Why are you still up? I told you I was working late tonight.*

The man's long, elegant fingers moved gracefully through the air.

Leilani suddenly thought back to that year.

Her father had died saving Preston.

The trauma had caused her to lose her hearing.

Preston had clumsily taught himself sign language, working day and night. In just one month, he became fluent and even taught it to her and her brother, Austin.

Back then, Preston had promised to treat her well for the rest of his life.

Leilani looked up, her gaze catching a faint red mark on his neck. "Are you tired?"

Preston froze for a second.

Then he broke into a warm smile.

He took her hand and gently kissed her fingers.
