We Are Officially Divorced novel Chapter 19

Chapter 19

The corners of Amelia’s mouth quivered slightly with a smile.

It seemed she really had said those words.

But heaven could be her witness-she only said it to push him to get the divorce sooner, never with the intention of having a deep conversation with him.

Who would want to have an awkward chat with their ex-husband right after getting the divorce certificate?

Isn’t it normal to grab your best friends and celebrate your new life with drinks?

Although she had always kept her word, at this wonderful moment, she didn’t want anything to ruin her mood, so she came up with an excuse.

“I did say that, but I never said we had to talk right now, did I? Maybe next time, when I have time.”

Julian did not let go.

“After you tricked me into signing the divorce papers last time and then disappeared without a word, it’s really hard for me to trust what you say. You even changed all your contact information. If you run off again after today, where am I supposed to find you to make good on your promise?”

Perhaps it was the authority that came with his identity as a lawyer, but seeing him accuse her so righteously, Amelia couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.

Julian, ever perceptive, noticed the subtle change in her expression and continued with his gentle approach.

“You wanted a divorce. I didn’t want to, but I still agreed. I delayed a bit, but in the end, things went your way. I respected your wishes and didn’t hold you accountable for tricking me before. I just want to have an honest conversation with you-can’t you give me that chance? Four years as classmates, three years as a married couple, do you really have to be so heartless?”

After receiving the divorce certificate, Amelia was so pleased with herself that she completely forgot the cold resolve she had maintained before.

And it was the first time she had ever seen Julian act so humble in front of her, which made her soften a little. She took out her phone proactively.

“Alright then, I’ll give you my contact info. But you can’t message me like you did the other day, and

you have to be polite. As for meeting up, we’ll discuss the time later.”

Afraid she would change her mind, Julian quickly added her contact, then finally let followed her downstairs, muttering all the way.

“You have to promise me too-not to block me, not to delete me, and not to ignore my messages. You have to keep your word.”

Amelia was getting tired of hearing it, and her tone grew impatient again.

“As long as you behave like a proper classmate and don’t cross any lines, I promise I won’t delete you!”

With that assurance, Julian finally felt at ease.

He opened the passenger door and made a very courteous gesture, inviting her in.

Amelia pretended not to see and went to hail a cab by the roadside.

Just as she turned around, a long, mournful sigh sounded behind her.

“Now that we’re divorced, you won’t even share a ride with me? You’re really heartless.”

Amelia got goosebumps from hearing that and hurried into a taxi, urging the driver to leave quickly.

When she returned to Stella’s place and opened the door, two party poppers went off, startling her.

Seeing the room filled with balloons, flowers, snacks, cakes, and banners celebrating her single life, her eyes grew hot with emotion.

Afraid she would cry, Stella quickly pulled her into a hug and comforted her softly.

“Why are you crying on such a happy day? Swallow those tears! Tonight, we’re going to drink until we drop to celebrate this joyful day!”

The emotions Amelia had suppressed for so long were finally released in that moment.

She wiped her tears on Stella’s clothes and nodded her head vigorously.

“Drink until we drop? You can’t even outdrink me!”

“Oh, really? After three years of marriage without a single drop of alcohol, you still dare to brag in front of me! Tonight, I’ll show you who can really hold their liquor!”
