What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 238

Kaia smiled gratefully. "Thank you so much. Let me know whenever you need it back, and I'll clear out."

"Veridian relies on your leadership, Kaia. An apartment is nothing," Silas said, visibly relieved she had accepted.

"Do you need help with the furniture?" he offered.

"No, I can handle it," she replied, not wanting to impose any further.

"Come on, moving furniture requires some heavy lifting. I don't feel good letting you do it all on your own," he insisted with a worried frown.

Kaia chuckled. "You're so thoughtful. If you're free when it arrives, I'd love your help overseeing the delivery. I'll buy you dinner to make up for it."

"Deal." Silas immediately walked over to one of the bright, spacious rooms. "I was planning to use this as a study. A huge bookshelf would look incredible right there..."

For the next few minutes, Silas passionately walked her through his original design plans for the space.

Kaia was a genius in the lab, but when it came to interior design, she was completely lost. Hearing his brilliant ideas actually sparked her interest. "Could you write those ideas down for me? I could never come up with something that creative."

Silas flashed a dangerously handsome smile. "How about I get a friend to come handle it for you? You don't have time to oversee a renovation anyway. He's a professional."

Kaia nodded in agreement. "That would be perfect. Please give him my contact info. Money is no object."

"Don't worry about the money; the company will expense it. It's part of your executive perks," Silas countered. There was no way he was going to let her pay for it. He practically worshipped the ground she walked on.

The two stepped into the elevator to leave. "You really thought of everything," Kaia remarked with a smile.

Silas grinned. "I'm a planner. I don't go to war unprepared. Since you're starting fresh, Kaia, you deserve a space that reflects that. This place is entirely yours now. If there's anyone you don't want to see, just lock the door."

A warm feeling spread through her chest. Stepping away from the Sanders estate really did feel liberating.

Friday evening, Brynlee threw a fit, demanding to eat at the main estate. Finnian, who spoiled her rotten, naturally obliged. He sent Kaia a text, asking her to join them.

Kaia remembered the conditions of their agreement. One of them was maintaining a cordial facade in front of the elders.

She drove over. The sun was still up, casting a golden glow over the lawn where Brynlee was riding her bike. Finnian was running alongside her, acting as her spotter since she had insisted on taking off the training wheels. After dozens of laps, Brynlee finally got the hang of it and was pedaling on her own.

"That's Mom's car!" Brynlee shouted gleefully, pedaling toward the driveway. "Mom, look at me! No training wheels! Aren't I awesome?"
