What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 324

"Silas, do you honestly think I can walk away cleanly?" Kaia asked.

He didn't even hesitate. "It's going to be brutal. My cousin knows how invaluable your tech skills are now. He will use every trick in the book to keep you at the company."

Kaia's brow furrowed. That aligned perfectly with her own fears. Professionally, she didn't have a better alternative lined up. The resources and prestige she had access to within The Sanders Conglomerate were unmatched. But she knew that once the divorce was finalized, she had to leave. She couldn't stomach the idea of running into her ex-husband in the corporate halls every single day.

"Don't lose hope, Kaia. Even if you're patient, certain other people are running out of time. When push comes to shove, you'll get your out," Silas reassured her.

Kaia paused. He was right. With the matriarch forcing Noelle into arranged setups, Noelle would inevitably grow desperate. She would do whatever it took to secure Finnian, and that desperation would force the issue.

"Good point," Kaia said, feeling a sudden wave of relief wash over her.

That afternoon, Dexter arrived at her office with a formal document. He explained that Finnian had personally approved a ten-day paid leave for her exceptional performance on the Aethelstan project.

Kaia signed the paperwork without hesitation and immediately coordinated with her team to cover her absence.

Silas enthusiastically approved the final sign-offs.

Clearing her desk, she texted Celine, telling her about the impromptu trip to Switzerland and asking if she was free to tag along.

Celine's reply was instant: she was already packing her bags.

Reading the message, Kaia burst into laughter. Her fierce, independent friend was clearly desperate for a vacation. Having Celine along guaranteed the trip wouldn't be dull.

Because they were on a tight schedule, Kaia and Celine booked their flights that very night. When Brynlee found out she was flying out to see Anna, she squealed with joy and immediately started packing her favorite toys.

At the airport, Kaia held Brynlee's hand as they met up with Celine. While waiting to board, Brynlee kept glancing back at the terminal doors, tugging at Kaia's sleeve. "Is Dad really not coming? He promised..."

"He has a lot of work to finish. He might catch up with us later. Let's just get on the plane first, okay?" Kaia said softly, noticing the immediate drop in her daughter's mood.

"Will he be mad?" Brynlee asked in a small voice.

"Why would he be mad?" Kaia blinked.

"Because we're going on a fun trip without him."
