What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 383

Kaia hadn't expected Finnian to have the nerve to make a request.

"If Mr. Sanders wants a drink, he can have his assistant deliver it. I—"

"Dexter didn't come. I drove myself," Finnian cut in quickly. "Thanks in advance."

Kaia parted her lips, then shut him down flatly. "Sorry, I can't help you with that."

Listening to their exchange, Simon's expression shifted slightly.

Finnian was taken aback by how bluntly Kaia refused him. It was just a cup of coffee. It was on her way, yet she was entirely unwilling.

"Then how about I go get them for you?" Finnian stood up, deciding to run the errand himself.

"Sure. Thanks, Mr. Sanders. I'll take a Latte, and he wants an Iced Americano," Kaia replied without missing a beat.

Simon felt a bit awkward and quickly interjected, "Maybe I should just go."

"No need," Finnian said coldly. "I'll do it."

He turned and walked away, his footsteps feeling impossibly heavy. In this little group, he was the blatant third wheel.

Kaia ignored his retreating figure, her expression growing even more detached.

Simon chuckled softly. "Kaia, do you think Mr. Sanders is angry?"

"What does he have to be angry about? He's the one who was late, he's the one who broke his promise, and he's the one who offered to buy coffee," Kaia said, completely unconcerned with Finnian's mood.

Simon's gaze deepened as he looked at her. "Have things between you and Mr. Sanders... really reached that point?"

Kaia looked at her daughter in the distance, her voice quiet. "We probably can't divorce just yet. Her condition requires both of us to care for her. But once she's cured, we'll definitely take that step."
